I was in Quebec City, Quebec.. we had lunch. Meeting scheduled with a radio company. That was cancelled and the trade show closed. I ran down to the basement to rent a car to go to the nearest Canadian City to Detroit. We had a class and a paper to present later that week.

I was told, the teletype had just instructed to not rent cars to Americans. We got on our cellphones trying to get in touch with Headquarters in Tampa…log jamb. So we settled into wait mode. Watched the news while waiting. Suddenly my bosses phone rang. He handed me the phone “No one wants to talk to me..You have messages from Washington DC.”

“First, do not get on a plane.” “ No shite, Montreal is closed.” “Messages from Washington, your daughter and grandchildren were the last to leave Andrew’s. They are now all in Maryland.” “Not far enough.”
“Where is Mark?” “Still in the White House.” “Ron,were a Navy fighter pilot….what chance does a squad of Marines have against a passenger plane, dedicated to hitting the structure?”
“None” “ What in the hell do they think they are protecting?” My SIL was the Officer in charge of the Marines in the White House that morning.

It took us three days to get out of Quebec, rent a car, then drive back to Tampa.

At home drinking coffee after the first one hit. Watched the second one hit live. Had to drive my grandmother to the dentist in Ellick. Got to the dentist office and there was a tv in the waiting room which was packed and all eyes were on the tv. Some surreal shite. My grandmother didn't understand why they were doing this.

At work in BR. Nothing getting done as everyone was glued to tv \ radios.

From "Never Forget" to where we are now is pretty damn sad.

Same here. Sitting at desk at work and the internet was slow as well. My boss came in the room telling me and a co-worker that a plane just hit the first tower. We immediately went into the break room, turned on the TV but the 2nd plane had not yet hit. Watched that live on TV. Then later, the news came out about the pentagon and flight 93.

By time I got home from work, and saw the aftermath in NYC, pentagon and Flight 93, I cried for those people that I didnt know from Adam but they were Americans and that big loss was so upsetting.

Was in my prior career in transportation/logistics. Worked a weird time and started my days at 10. Our oldest child was 9 months old. I would take her to a sitter in the morning before work and my wife, who was teaching school and working on her grad degree, would pick her up early afternoon.

We got in the car and first thing to come on the radio was the breaking news about the plane. Not being able to see it, I though nothing about it. When we got to the sitter's house, I saw it on her TV and was just shocked. Then the 2nd plane hit as I left there to go to work. Work was surreal. People going to conference room to watch. I'm trying my best to work and then someone comes in and says one of the towers fell, then they come back and another has fallen. It was just a very sad and weird day. I remember we were very busy that day for some reason so I didn't really have time to sit and dwell on what was happening.

The strangest thing that I will always remember is sitting outside that evening. We lived outside of ATL. There were always planes in the sky. Any minute of the day. Not that night. It was very surreal looking up at a clear sky with nothing moving around.

Freshman year of high school and found out heading into homeroom to see both towers of the WTC on fire, and immediately seeing the replay of UA175 going into the South Tower. As a native New Yorker, it was sobering to realize the scale of how bad this was.

Stationed at Fort Knox. Much like in NYC, it was a gorgeous September morning. Definitely a contrast to the horror that befell our nation that day.

I shed tears every anniversary. Maybe I’m getting too old or tender hearted.

I was in class in college and didn’t even know it happened until an hour later. Came back to my room and there was 7 people in my room watching tv.

I was a sophomore at LSUS and was in geography class. The professor thought the radio station was doing a dark bit/sketch. 30 minutes later someone came in and said all classes are cancelled. We all went to the student union to watch the news. This is my 20th year teaching HS and I'm actually now teaching geography. I'll never forget

25 years ago I was working out at Elmwood on top of Shell One in New Orleans. I was working as a pharmacist at one of the hospitals and it was my day off.

Today, I am out of pharmacy and work in the finance world, currently sitting in a high rise in Manhattan.

It feels like all of this was five years ago
