On my way to school.. ended up watching the news in the student union for the next few hours there and not stepping foot in class

Trying to sleep off a hangover. My neighbor came over and started banging on the door and told me to turn on the TV, so I turned on my 19 inch TV.

Second period accounting class in HS when it happened. Didn’t know anything about it until I went to third period English and my teacher was saying how her husband called her and said both towers were “leaning over” and about to collapse.
Our principal came over the PA at the beginning of class and said there had been a coordinated attack on the US primarily focused on the east coast and it was deliberate but we will go about our day. Didn’t see anything in person until lunch, 6th period, where everyone was gathered around TVs in the library and cafeteria
Still had T&F practice after class to “maintain continuity”

OSHA training class. First day of my new job.
We had a break and I went out to my truck to check my phone and my wife had called me 5 times. Called her back and she told me what was going on.
Went back in the class and the instructor said something bad had happened, but we had to finish training.

I do. I was there while they evacuated the loop. Total pandemonium. Rumors that planes were in route. They started expressing blue and red lines out from the CBD. Way out North and West way more than was necessary. Never seen anything like it.

My prof told us what happened, so I went back to my dorm and called my uncle, who owned a print shop at the time right across the East River in Brooklyn. He was sitting on the roof talking to me on the phone as the second plane hit giving me a moment by moment recap of everything he saw.

Deployed on the uss Gettysburg. I was scrubbing pots in the pot locker while we floated off the coast of Italy. Was a great booze cruise till then.

On a Delta flight headed for Cincinnati...took off from BR 10 minutes to early to be stopped on the runway....diverted to Dallas...scary morning for sure. Took me forever to get back to Baton Rouge .
Had I known that would be my last simple day going through security at the airport I would have enjoyed it more.

Boarding a plane at MSY. I watched the news on an airport TV while the first plane hit the first tower. I didn’t know what was happening. A DC business partner called my wife. He couldn’t get me and he called my wife who called me and said get the hell off the plane.
My business partner’s wife worked in the White House at the time under Bush so I didn’t hesitate to act.

Getting a haircut off post at Fort Campbell. It actually happened on TV while I was getting a haircut. Barber said “I’m going to make this quick, you need to go”. We deployed to Kandahar four months later.

Everybody’s first reaction was “What bozo accidentally flew a plane into the WTC?”
Me, with family in Louisiana is thinking some drunk idiot flew a plane into it. Then we saw the second plane hit on live TV. The shite got serious really quick.
A buddy had a sister living in NYC and working near the WTC. He tried to call her and there was no cell service.
I’m tearing up thinking about this shite. This is one of about two things in life that can weaken me.
