Drive to Forest and stay there.
That’s very specific. You must be very familiar with Scott county, MS

Have to go in December. Heard Jackson has potentially gotten worse than Baton Rouge. Any decent priced hotels in Jackson in a “safe” area?
All the hotels along I-55 North between High Street and County line road have a heavy prostitution presence.
If you want to feel safe, probably stay a tad bit further north around the renaissance area. Or stay west of Jackson in Clinton off i-20.

You can stay at the Westin downtown. It’s nice as any normal downtown and there are a lot of restaurants in the area. ETA: check the water situation just in case if you stay here
Or stay at the township in Ridgeland. It’s very nice with great restaurants but no bars if you are looking at that. If you stay here or out in Madison know that it may take you 25-30 minutes to get downtown if you are going around 8am.
You could stay in pearl but it’s just hotels around chain foods.
Don’t stay in Clinton. It’s nice but there is nothing near hotels and the commute would suck

What type of people do you need to watch out for in Jackson, MS?

Why would you intentionally stop in Jackson? When going to Gulf Shores, we'd either stay in Vicksburg or Hattiesburg, but never Jackson. In fact, we'd make sure that we didn't even need gas in Jackson.

I'll rent you my RV outside of Crystal Springs, or you might like the Wisteria Inn in Crystal Springs, (really nice and right downtown next to the PD).

Fondren is great for food/bars. Can’t believe I forgot about it

Hilton on County Line Rd. Area is a shite hole.
Can confirm. There are much worse areas, but there are also much better just five miles north

Go north of County Line Road - maybe even go to Madison. Anything south is just not safe.

Cut out the middle man. Just shoot yourself once in the stomach and once in the shoulder and stay at their ER.

Everything people are saying is true. I’ve lived in Jackson for more than 20 years, and I’ve been murdered dozens of times.

Thanks for the correction. There's a Marriott property there I stay at when I need to be in town. It has a hotel bar and there's a Waffle House and Popeye's nearby.
It's a good place to burn some time. Braves AA team is there, Bass Pro, huge outlet mall, Cracker Barrel - all the creature comforts for standard whitey.
