Monroe had the most robberies per capita in Louisiana, the study shows.
Jackson was the big one in Mississippi.
West Memphis, Tulsa, and Houston are the hot spots, respectively, in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Monroe was #17 on the list overall.

Here are some other interesting finds:

There were 319,356 robberies in the U.S. in 2017, down by 28 percent from 2008.
Boise, Idaho, had the lowest robbery rate - 2.26 per 10,000 people.
Baltimore, MD, had the highest robbery rate - 95.87 per 10,000 people.
42 of the 50 cities cited are close to a state line, and 18 of those cities are on or almost on the border of their state.
The average property loss as a result of a robbery was $1,373 in 2017.
Banks took the hardest hit, with an average loss of $3,483 per robbery.
The robbers most commonly used firearms (40.6%) and “strong-arm tactics,” which involve physical force but no weapon (41.5%).
37.2% of robberies took place on a street or highway.

Myrtle Beach is a bit of surprise, but it does have a lot a trashy places just off the beach.
I just figured there were worse places in South Carolina.

There's a Trustmark (or used to be) in Meadowbrook area of Jackson that's been robbed like 15-18 times.

They have about 200,000 people.

So the most crime ridden city in Idaho has a bit more than 40 robberies a year. They must barely need a jail there.

I spent a month last year roaming around Idaho, N. Colorado, WY, and Montana on a motorcycle.

Were it not for the kids/grandkids the wife and I would not have returned.

While I have always loved the South it really is a crime infested shithole primarily due to demographics and sadly that will never change.

Boise Metro is over 700,000

Ada County Jail is packed as are the two prisons just south of town. They're shipping inmates to Texas due to overcrowding. Mostly drug-related stuff as opposed to random or violent crime. But there are a shitload of cops here.
