I saw that too. They were discussing about whether or not he should be allowed to submit and discuss his plan. They said no and that they’d look over “all of the plans” at a later date.
This is the definition of a shitshow.

They should have had the Bobs interview the candidates-

He also was so prepared for his interview that he actually has a written plan
If his plan is in a binder, the AD says hire him now.

All jobs in br now require everyone to have a prepared binder.

Committee member Ted James asked if committee can view a plan that candidate Myron Daniels mentioned. Now they are discussing if they should ask all candidates to submit a plan.
This is total BS
IMO Daniels deserves the job & it looks like he came prepared to show he can do it
Too bad he is too good of a cop for SWB to give him the job
ETA
For so many “educated” people on the committee they seem like a bunch of dumbasses

How can you give the Chiefs job to an officer who is a SGT?
You have Lt, Col,etc who have higher ranks.
I could see bringing in some one from outside who might be a lt, say from State Police, but how would you promote from a rank above beat cops, when others have higher ranks and expect harmony. Going to be a bunch of pissed off cops, who have ranks and were passed over. shite gets real when this happens.
Seriously, he's 1 grade above a cop who just came out of the academy.

Somewhere, Deedy Slaughter is laughing.

With 20 years of experience. Greg Phares was a Sgt., pretty sure Jeff Leduff was too. It’s an appointed position. Once given the job, he will “outrank” everyone else. Myron would do well if given the chance.

n that day nine years ago, Daniels chased a career criminal who ran a red light and then holed up in an apartment off Hanks Drive. He radioed for help and, after rounding a corner inside the residence, spotted the fugitive kneeling on the floor of a back room, aiming a gun at the doorway.
The bullets struck Daniels in short succession, grazing his leg and piercing his abdomen below his bulletproof vest. He lay in a coma for several days and spent nearly two weeks in the hospital undergoing surgeries.
quote:
Daniels, who is assigned the department's Special Response Team, has remained active in community outreach throughout his career, teaching self-defense courses and organizing fundraisers and toy drives.
He has served for years as president of the capital area branch of the Magnolia State Peace Officers Association, a statewide organization for black police officers, and as an instructor in the department's training academy.
Seems like a good guy with a ton of experience that cares about the community & cleaning up the streets.
I do not think he will get the job, he isn’t what SWB & friends are looking for
quote:
Gary Chambers, a black activist and vocal critic of the BRPD, said he's concerned about deeply pro-union views Daniels has expressed over the past several months.
quote:
"He's not progressive-minded, not willing to move the department where it needs to go," Chambers said. "I think he's a good guy but, with his current stances, I would not want to see him as chief of police."

He, nor anyone else not named Murphy Paul, will get the job. That deal has already been struck between her and Paul.

Quid pro quo from JBE or you think she is taking him because she wants an outsider?

Outsider that she knows from her days at the Capital. He only took the test because she asked him too....allegedly

What the hell is doing on the selection committee anyway? I’m surprised that Silky Slim and Gravy aren’t members.

I don’t get why he’d leave his current gig to take on the stress of being chief... I wouldn’t think the pay is much different

He’s also a racist. Neither qualifies him to be judging the qualities of a potential police chief of a city with a big time crime problem.

Just sitting back watching my property values out here in LP tick up, day after day.
Drainage ordinances and gravity drainage districts. Development ordinances and building codes. Low crime. Three huge high schools either being rebuilt and expanded (DSHS), expanded (Walker undergoing $25,000,000 upgrade and expansion) or brand new (Live Oak HS). New retail developments, etc.
We’re enjoying the show.
