I’d say 8th grade, when balls are dropped, black kids are dunking, etc

Isn’t that what Social Media is for (at least for most)? It’s just a curated look at peoples lives. Them at what they think is their “best”, at least for most people.

My particular favorite is them posting when the kid practices/workouts/lessons...#hardwork #keepgrinding #alwaysworking
They're literally doing the bare minimum required to be on the team...

Get the mobile app, BackThen. It allows you to share with a closed circle of invited family and friends. Keeps it focused on the people who really care, and it has the added benefit of keeping your kids' images off social media and out of AI training data. Been using it for maybe 4-5 years and would highly recommend,

In the kid's defense, so are the parents usually

People think they need to post every single little thing that goes on in their lives. Nobody gives a shite.

That being said, I have a "friend" that has a X account where they update their kids weekly performance in 12u travel ball. Don't be that guy.

I know someone who does this with full stat lines for 11U.

I have been a coach, a parent and a fan. Parents and family members can be as proud as they want to be and talk but as far as everyone else I don’t think you should force that on others. If they ask about your child by all means you can brag about your child accomplishments

Who cares.. let people enjoy there small moments of success. You’ll often notice that many times it’s the parents who need the personal vindication more than the kid. Ultimately, The process makes it easier to spot the self absorbed parents to avoid

this is very true but instead of spending all that money on hitting camps when the kid might not be able to graduate high school - get him a tutor!

If it’s reported by an actual media source like a local paper, then fine.

I don't care if somebody is proud of their kid. Let them brag.

We don't post these things on social media, but will share the picture that someone else has posted when our kids are part of a team that wins something significant. The biggest honor I have found so far for one of my children. We were walking by a group of kids at a Mardi Gras parade and the kids said look OMG that's XYZ kid. They had great respect for my kid having played against them in different sports. I thought it was really cool that they knew who my kid was without ever even talking to them.
