you think the entire internet is going to shut down?
It's funnier to me that people think they'd somehow be sitting in this mystical catbird seat if that happens, and they are holding a boatload of cash on hand.

The issues hurting Louisiana, Landry is saving us one bill at a time

Young people don't know how to make change.

I don’t know but I’ve had three fraudulent charges to my card linked to concessions purchases at Tiger Stadium. If I could use cash, that’d be preferable.
Apple Pay my dude, or most credit cards offer temporary numbers.

surely your cash will hold its value when the entire country is falling apart

You can take your beer and leave the cash on the counter. No one can deny legal currency

but a debt is not a purchase. They can just deny service so no debt will be incurred. If you consumed their good or service and owed them a debt, then yes, they would have to take cash.
my business does not accept cash (or credit cards for that matter). Pay me by check or wire or I will refuse service

Exactly. If there is no food, your money is all but worthless. The same for gold, silver, crypto, etc if used as a means to store value. Hell, with inflation, your cash in hand is worth less every day.

No one suggested anything close to that. It would be nice to have cash, and even nicer to have gold, silver, and a stockpile of supplies.

Actually funnier than the idea that you will be in some great situation if you have a bunch of cash available. The cash would be good for one or to early transactions maybe.

Glad the legislature has time to focus on bullshite like this, outlawing legal d9, forcing the commandments in classrooms, forcing age verification for porn, and all sorts of other nonsense that have absolutely nothing to do with the real issues this state faces.
Posted on 5/28/24 at 6:03 pm to TheArrogantCorndog
They do not. It's absolute horse shite, but they do not have to accept cash.

This is a pretty bad take.
Personally, I'm worried about digital banking being linked to social credit scores in the future. Always remember, the IRS can and will grab cash out of your account if it deems it necessary.

HB5 passed the Senate today w/o amendments. It will eventually make it to the gov’s desk. Bill doesn’t state an effective date so it would become law Aug 1. It applies to events at post secondary education. It was a measure by Charles Owen (R-Rosepine).
