When I was a kid, every parent got a list of what the teacher expected them to bring with them on the first day of class. Kleenex, paper towels, crayons, glue, etc. The teachers didn't buy the shite, the parents did.

What? Teachers in Louisiana make, on average, 52k a year.
Teacher - 180 days
Avg white collar worker - 234 days
~77% of time worked.
Even annualized, they'd make more if they managed a Panda Express.

The saddest part of this is that if we wouldn't have marginalized educators to begin with, you're complaint would be completely flipped.
Teachers need more money, not less. If they had been afforded more money in the first place you would understand why.

My oldest is mid teens. Been happening at public school the whole time. Parents try to buy favor for being lax on their kids.

It started happening about the time they discovered another angle to ask other people to fork over for their bills. We need to start some kind of system so people can know what a job pays before they get a degree in that field.
