Lived in many states -10 in the South, Northwest, Midwest, and Northeast - and the worst, by far, were CT and MA.

The people that down voted you have never lived there. It is the absolute taint of the U.S. There isn't one redeeming quality of the entire state.

Please do, we can’t wait to get rid of people like you. Minnesota consistently ranks in the top 5 states in which to live while Louisiana usually ranks in the bottom 5.

NM was ok. Roswell sucked which is where I lived but I went up to ABQ almost every weekend and I enjoyed it there.

Of the 10 states I've lived in Arkansas is at the bottom. Louisiana is only a couple of notches higher.

The city you live in is much more important than the state, though.

air quality (yea, I'm talking about Baton Rouge).

There's plenty to dislike about BR but air quality? It always seems to be fine to me.

I’ve lived in Louisiana (born and raised), Oklahoma (little town of Duncan), and Texas (Dallas and Houston).

My rankings, best to worst:

Houston TX
Baton Rouge LA
Dallas TX

Duncan OK

BR has old friends and family, great food, and memories.

Houston has new friends, new family, good food, and a similar atmosphere without as much trash, litter, culcha, graft, political corruption, and close enough the BR that I can go visit whenever I want.

Dallas was clean and a good economy but the people all act like they are from fricking Los Angeles. Snobby $40k a year millionaires driving leased 3series and renting an apartment.

Duncan has nothing to do, wasn’t pretty to look at, people were standoffish, and it wasn’t near anything interesting. Cost of living was the only upside.

I plan on leaving Houston when I retire to either the Hill Country of TX, or Greenville SC.

I’ve lived in Louisiana, Ohio, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois.

For me it’s probably IL. The state is terribly ran. The weather sucks. Chicago is fun, but other than that it has nothing going for it.

Louisiana.

Great place to visit, but the cost of living is too high and the job market sucks. So not a good place to live. Best thing is to be just across the state line.

ABQ is a shithole too. Crime is ridiculous. Traffic is atrocious. They try to church up the Bosque like it's some awesome place. Well, it's not, it's full of Hobo's, gangbangers and dead trees.

I have lived in New Orleans, Lafayette, Birmingham, Gadsden (AL), Nashville, and Atlanta. Any of the places I listed that were not in Louisiana were a better place to live. Atlanta and Birmingham are both underrated beautiful places. Birmingham's north side is bad but "the good side of the mountain" and all around Hoover are very well developed. Birmingham was my favorite. Not a a Falcons fan but Atlanta was also very nice and pretty. Lafayette is the worst due to traffic, perpetual road work, not much effort in landscaping to make things look nice, etc. Even New Orleans believes in the concept of a grassy median. In Lafayette people will make a left out of Chick-fil-a on Ambassador across 4 lanes of traffic.

TX, NC, TN, GA

Don’t remember TX. NC was by far the best. TN worst because of Memphis. GA is shite outside of Atlanta metro.

I've lived in Louisiana, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. I have to sadly say that Louisiana was the worst even though I lived there a long time and love many things about Louisiana and many people. Far too many social, political, and economic problems in Louisiana.

I am neutral about Texas though when I lived there I didn't like it. I would love living in Ft. Worth or Austin or San Antonio though.

I liked Michigan. The Great Lakes, plenty of fishing and outdoors stuff to do, Northern woods, pro sports and big ten sports makes it great for a sports fan.

As far as quality of life I would go with Minnesota even with the winters. Wisconsin is in the middle.
