Back in college a dude filled a bottle with his dip spit and left out in the hot sun for several months to ferment. Then, for our new class of pledges he dumped it all over them at our retreat. I was at least 25 feet away on the other side of the patio where it occurred, and I caught a slight whiff and gagged. The pledges (blindfolded and next to one another) were throwing up all over each other. It was disgusting.

Used to work in the ER. One night a patient had an infected, bleeding colon that was leaking through her butthole. I can literally make myself involuntarily dry heave by thinking about it.

Honest question, can you clip your nose shut so you can't smell in the ER? Is that against some sort of policy? Honestly curious as I'm trying to think of a reason you would need immediate use of being able to smell? I would guess anyone in the ER gets nasty smells at least weekly.

Ice chest that had minnows in it for 2 weeks during the middle of summer and we forgot about it, no describing the smell.
Not the worst smell but really bad, at my highschool someone put a single dead crawfish in the springs under someones car seat. Smelt for months.

The mens' room off the main platform at Penn Station in NYC. The smell there was unidentifiable.

The freezer full of meat after an extended outage from a hurricane is legit one of the most disgusting things you will ever see

Try a 50,000 SF freezer warehouse full of several 1000 tons of chicken leg, thighs and wings flooded after Katrina.
You could see the cloud of flies from across the river.

Leather tannery in Mocorcco.... a giant pile of cow flesh baking in the African sun.... after awhile its dipped in a solution that includes bird shite along other things to removed the stench.
To reiterate... it is dipped in shite to IMPROVE the smell.

A disinterred human body that had been buried for about 10 months.

I smelled a bunch of nasty shite after Katrina, but nothing that compared to that.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but for me, rotten potatoes are the worst by far that I have ever experienced. And I've got my fair share of deep freezer disposal post hurricane experience.

Years ago, in my pantry at my apartment, I kept grocery bags in a pile on the floor. Started smelling something fairly rancid and for over a week I could not figure out where it was coming from. It got so bad that I began to throw away everything in the pantry and fridge. Finally started tossing the bags and found buried beneath them a bag of potatoes that were now almost entirely liquid. I started to move them and was hit with a gas/smell that immediately made me vomit. I felt sick for a full 24 hours after. Absolutely awful, horrible, demonic smell.

Second worst would be when a good friend of mine forgot a watermelon in the trunk of her car in the heat of summer for a couple of days. That was gross. Her car smelled like a rabid dog ate a case of watermelon swisher sweets and diarrhead it all over the back seat.

My brother had a pretty bad back surgery when I was little. He ended up with a staph infection while recovering at home. When that thing ruptured, it was the most god awful smell you could imagine. It took a couple days to air out our entire house. His old room never did smell quite right to me after that.
