First time I went hunting, my buddy shot and killed a deer. I was so excited to be part of the experience until he cut the deer open. My nose burned for a week. That smell is still part of my worst nightmares.

Had to open the clean out on the camp sewage pipe after poo backed up into the shower. It was 100 degrees outside and I had a serious Budweiser hangover. Me and my buddy became best friends that day as we held each other up puking off the pier for 5 minutes. frick it was bad

One of my regular patients has mental illness, incontinence, and a collection of cats. He has always presented with the scent of ripe body odor and eye-watering aroma of old urine and cat piss.

Several months ago, I gave him a vaccine and he had to remove 3 layers of shirts to expose his deltoid for the injection. Every layer revealed an increasingly pungent, foul odor.

The last shirt was long sleeved and not loose fitting, thus he had to unbutton the top and take it off. The stench was so overwhelming that when he was pulling it over his head, I had to turn away and vomit.

I somehow managed to do this with my mouth closed and to spare him from embarrassment I swallowed it, held my breath, administered the vaccine, and helped him back into his shirts.

The odor lingered in the pharmacy for a while. I know he must know how horrible he smells. I really feel sorry for the man.

In HS I worked for a slum lord and would go clean out houses after the occupants bailed. Most of the houses had gone weeks, maybe months, without power before we would clean them out. I had to clean the fridges out and every time it would make me puke.

Mississippi heat and spoiled milk, meat, etc was the worst.

Also, found a dead body fishing as a teenager. Guy had committed suicide and washed up on the bank. I’ll never forget the smell and maggots eating his bloated body.

Gangrene.

Had a patient lose a foot over it. Smelled so bad that literally 3 floors (the floor the patient was on and the one above and the one below) were shutdown except for that 1 patients room. So bad that a "scout" was sent ahead of transport to surgery to clear everyone from the halls, elevator, waiting rooms. A post transport pair carrying aerosol spray freshener followed the transport crew too.

My home septic system had to be completely redone last summer (late August to be exact). The smell was less than 1/2 as bad as the gangrene.

I came across a dead cow out hunting years ago during early Fall. The animal was far enough along in decomp it had ruptured from the bloating. Didn't smell nearly as bad as the gangrene.

I imagine that a freezer full of rotten seafood after a hurricane will be the answer from a bunch of Louisiana baws, including me.

Accidentally left a full container of chicken livers inside the live well one summer night after jugging. Boat sat for about a month before we took it back out again. That smell was horrifying, and one I’ll never forget.

Decomp.

Guy committed suicide in an open field in a sleeping bag in the summer.

Liquified human remains. You don't shake that.
