Nothing serious. I got the “15-year old who knows everything” speech. She threatened me with the punishments that the school could hand out at the time. “I’m sorry, I thought you asked for my opinion” didn’t make her happy, but it ended the confrontation.

This can be hard to follow due to the Middle English, but some of the stories therein are hilarious.
The Miller's Tale involves cuckoldry (dueling Jodies), Noah's Flood, and literal asskissing if I remember it correctly. I remember being shocked something like that could pass in 14th century England.
Chaucer was also hugely influential in the development of the language.

Agreed. The Awakening was the worst. Terrible. Best was Catcher in the Rye.

I agree. I can understand that his work inspired a lot of other works, but I'm not really a fan of his.
I didn't mind Dickens or Scarlett Letter. We also read The Great Gatsby, Grapes of Wrath, Animal Farm and some others that I didn't appreciate at the time, but I'm glad I've read them now.

War and Peace is the one I hated the most hands down. Such an overrated novel.
The writer doesn't establish characters for shite, introduces an insane amount early each chapter, then doesn't reference back when reintroducing them later in the book after they have since been forgotten. Was a brutal read. It had a great story but just hated having to figure out who was who every two chapters.
