Currently in a 4,100 square foot home. We don’t use one side of the house.I lived in a 500 square foot apartment when I was single for two years and I was perfectly happy. Cleaning was fast/easy. Had to rent a storage unit but that was cheap b/c it was at my apt complex. It really was not bad.

Went from 4600 to 1600. My wife and I along with 2 full time young kids and two older kids part time. In the bigger house, there would stretches of time where no one would go upstairs except to clean. We’re perfectly happy where we are.

Single just me?

I lived in a 750 ft2 studio apartment in college.

I had a couch, a table to eat on with 2 chairs, and used a big plastic storage container to sit my TV on.

I was comfortable. The fridge always had beer, and my tuition was paid in cash. That's all that mattered

I've comfortably lived in 1000 sq/ft, but prefer 1800-2200.

When we first got married (no kids) we lived in 512 sq ft with a 12x16 front porch. It was small, but it was pretty awesome. Everything thing has to have its place so things stayed pretty neat and it was also Free.

Then we moved into a 1400 sq ft house. Stayed there until our boy was almost 4, but things were getting a little crowded.

Moved into a 1750 sqft house with a garage. I’m pretty sure we’ll never move again. M

I have no kids, just a wife and 2 dogs. We have a 2200 Sqft home on a full basement with a bonus room.

My wife wants something bigger, so we are looking to build again.

I’ve done 375 sqft and 425 sqft studios in Boston (girlfriend, no kids). Fresh out of college and moving to the city, there was an apartment for sale on 21 Beacon St. for $160k (prime real estate on the Common, of course I didn’t buy it). It was 260 sqft. Coincidentally that same apartment was listed for sale this week for $389k.

I now have about 1,000 sqft, kids, dog, etc in Manhattan. It’s really not that small. Many families I know live in 1bd apartment if they have 1 kid or 2 bd apartments <1,000sqft with multiple kids. The key is storage and organization. I’ve said it before in a similar thread and got criticized, but a family with 2 kids can live in 750sqft comfortably.

Your definition of comfortable and mine are different. I'm not going to come on here and say you'd need 3000 Sq ft for 2 kinds, but 750 would suck.

Single me only needs about half the size of OP’s moms vagina or about 850 sq feet.
