Bocage, UClub, Southdowns, Garden District in BR. The houses I've been doing range from 3000 to 5200. Like I said, 5 person households max. Average square footage varies greatly amongst those neighborhoods, but I'd say ~2200 sq ft is a decent estimate.

Went from 1600 because we ran out of room to 3600 and now it’s too much. We could live with somewhere around 2500-3000

Single, no kids. Been in 400 sq feet for 3 years now. Pretty happy with it.

Married with 2 kiddos anyone with under this and says anything beyond 2100 sqft. Either has had the worst home layouts in history or is trying to brag. 4 beds 3 baths is all you need. Hell me and the wife were looking at bigger and saying how we felt sorry for our maid. Now we are building a 2400 sqft house and it is plenty big enough.

When I had kids I had a 3,000 sq ft house.
You will have a lot of stuff.
Once they kids get older and move out you will want to downsize.

Right now after my kids are on their own 1,400 sq ft is about as large as I want to go.
My wife and I are on the road between my house on Toledo Bend 1,800 sq ft and house in BR 1,400
Sq ft.
Any larger and that is just more we would have to clean.

The SO and I currently live in about 1100 square feet. We like it cozy.

No kids, multiple dogs.

My first house was 1200 square feet. It was tiny and had everything we needed as a small family. It was the happiest time of my life.

Nice. Definitely higher risk/reward renovating houses bigger than median. Here's my problem.

Married, no kids. Our old house was 1,800 sq ft and I don’t know if I would go any smaller than that. Between all of her stuff and my music equipment we filled up 3 rooms easily.

We just moved to a 2,850 sqft house for when we decide to have kids. Somehow we still managed to fill every room with stuff.

Married with two kids. We own our two bedroom in NYC. It is about 1,100 sq feet. The biggest issue is I wish the second bedroom was slightly bigger. While it is doable, I need something bigger. One of the big perks is that live next door to a great park and our street is very quiet.

I’m in 1400 2BD, 2.5 bath with 1st kid on way and we’ll probably upgrade soon. Really want to keep guest room and nursery separate so family can visit comfortably.

Married, no kids. We have 1,500 sqft right now. It's plenty of room, but it could be laid out better. With the right layout, we'd probably be fine with about 1,000 sqft.

Not necessarily true. It's just the wife and myself in a 2580 sq ft house. She has a full time office which she works out of during the week and I have an office I use several times throughout the week.

GREAT home layout, and not bragging. Fact.
