8 months between my last gig, was given 6 months severance.

Did some consulting here and there. Ran out of shite to do in 4 weeks. Wife worked. Kids were in school. Friends were all working. Couldn't travel for those reasons.

Hated it.

6 weeks. Paternity leave after my son was born. By the end of it I was begging to go back and talk to some adults but it was a great time.

I left a role after my two week notice, went on a week long vacation, then started my new job the following Monday.

So since graduating, 5 business days.

Since June 1987, the only time I’ve not worked was between Nov. 7, 2016 and the first week of March, 2017 when I was on medical leave due to two open-heart surgeries and the complications that followed.

I took off about a month when I changed jobs and went to work for a new company. It was pretty nice. Lawn and the house looked immaculate.

Took the whole month of November off last year. Had a bachelor party in Denver then a 2 week trip to Spain with my fiance’ followed by a week of chill. It was awesome. Highly recommend if you have the vacation time. I’m not one of those “couldn’t wait to get back to work” people lol

2 months for European vacation, and no I didn’t want to come back to work.

The mentality of people not thinking of something to do without work confuses me.

In the 26 years Ive been working I haven’t had more than 8 days off in a row and that’s lining up a day off with a vacation week, maybe another 26 years and I can take some real time off. But I’ll probably be dead.

For many in Europe 4-6wks of vacation is available much much sooner

I got 6 weeks straight out the gates when I started in Europe. I still haven't fully adapted to not having to spread my 2 weeks of vacation out to get the most of it.

I have the type of job where ALL of my work remains after PTO. For me vacation is nothing more than excused procrastination.
