Three days, started a job and found out the second day that the owners were Scientologists. They started with some pretty weird talk. Went to lunch the 3rd day and never went back.
They would smoke like trains but talk about sitting in a hot tub to purify their bodies.

Shortest 3 months.
Same, first job out of college. The hired a position they thought they needed but really did not.
Longest 13 years, the job I went to after the 3 month job. The company at the three month job used me for several projects and troubleshooting over the years as did the largest competitor of that company

Other than that 3 month Job, 4 1/2 years has been the shortest.
Let me think about this in terms of non cash jobs.
8 years retail job while in school (in college, married with kids, Yeah I know)
3 months with a manufacturing company that didn't need my position.
The rest of my jobs (33 years worth) have been at engineering consulting companies
13 years
9 years
4 1/2 years
6 1/2 years (current job)

Shortest -2 weeks. When I got out of Navy I got a job driving an earthmover.Sucked balls, drive about 80 round trips, pick up a load of of dirt and then dump it for 10 hours, had an hour for lunch and breaks and then spent the last hour greasing the machine.Last couple days I was thinking how stupid I was,I had the GI bill and could be going to college.
Longest -29 years at on hospital but I worked there three different times, last stretch was 25 years.Had a lot of tough days but at least the weather was always good and lots of eye candy.

Worked a McDonalds during one summer back in 1983.
The ultimate loser/non-winner job.
And the idiots working there thought it was the best.
I started working in radio not too long after that.
Still a loser job in a hideous industry but better than McD.

The longest real job I had was for 42 years. Worked summer jobs, definitely not career jobs, while in high school and college.

Longest - 8 years ( current )
Shortest - 3 months
The position was a buyer / planner for a soap manufacturer. It was pure chaos and I hated every second of it.

While in college worked the night shift at Kmart for extra money. After a hard night of stocking shelves .It was the last hour of work.I leaned against the shelf for a break.
The morning shift crew was coming in and this manager probably about 25 says enjoying your break sarcastically. I said I sure am right back at him. We started an argument. I walked out with the electronics dept key. I then walked back in a gave it back to him and said enjoy your life at Kmart. The store closed a year later. That was my first and only night at Kmart.
