One of my site assignments is in the Turks and Caicos Islands so I travel there multiple times a year and stay at an all inclusive resort provided free of charge.

Also, half days on Fridays and unlimited PTO.

Southeast is pretty chill. Great quality of life, good paying jobs. Its the size of Florida with 70k people total. Weather is mild, more cool than cold, but lots of snow.

Need to check it out then. Alaska sounds like a wonderful state, and I'm glad you're giving me more insight into living there.

and unlimited PTO for me
I have this too, but it is actually worse than when we accrued PTO IMO.

I don't take a whole lot of time off, so at the end of each year, I'd always get a nice little check for any amount over a certain threshold we're not allowed to go over. Now that check is gone since it's unlimited.

But nonetheless, it's definitely not a bad thing.

I work from home, and I've traveled to a few interesting places to meet clients (Denver, KC, Philly, Greenville, etc...).

wearing shorts and flip flops or super casual clothing every day. The company also makes a Sam's run every couple weeks and stocks up the office kitchen with eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, and all kinds of snacks and drinks. We eat free breakfast on the company dime every morning together at 6:30am, and go grab a Dr. Pepper, Red Bull, or a little handful of peanuts/cheezits any time you want. It's great.

Someone is always hiring.

There is always work in Ak for those who have skills. A lot of people work here for a few years and leave, spots are open all the time. State is always hiring.

If you're type A workaholic it's probably not the place. If you value leisure time and outdoor stuff, its incredible.

Work 24 weeks a year, not doing anything physical. OT when I want it.(the lounge and the money) And when I'm home I'm free.

Every other Friday off and basically unlimited PTO. Technically I get 28 PTO days, but they don't really track it.

I do have to take some calls on my Fridays off every now and then, and sometimes have meetings, but they're almost always morning meetings giving me the rest of the day to goof off.

We have some tap water but no cups.
We have vacation time but not allowed to use it.
My work truck is 21 years old.

I should have stayed in the Army.
