32 SAT will net a full ride at Bama, just a welcome handshake at LSU.

Based on their football fan base, I believe this.

LSU offers little or nothing besides TOPS to high scoring high GPA kids that can get a full ride to Alabama and other SEC schools. I want my kid to go to LSU but going to have to think hard about it.

Alabama is a better school also, which pains me to say.
My son seems like he will have a chance at a scholarship and I am kind of hoping he can get some money from Texas A&M.
That almost made me throw up to type that. LOL

Dude our child is at Ole Miss. Super happy with school but comes to most LSU home games. Heart is definitely here but money talks.

I agree it has been bad for a while. Of my three one went to LSU while the other 2 got much better offers at several other places. One ended up at Ole Miss and the other at Oklahoma. Sad thing is all 3 would have been tigers but for LSU’s lack of scholarships.

I should have went to Southeastern, they offered full scholarship, room and board, meal ticket, books, everything. LSU offered nothing. Tulane offered a bundle but was still way too expensive. I got tops and worked full time my first attempt, was a mistake.

But why waste the intelligence on a school like Alabama? Use it where it will actually be nurtured and developed into a productive force.

Also,
LSU will give tops which essentially cuts out tuition. Housing will cost something but so does alabama.
The travel costs will be real.

The doctor visits will be an issue

Then there’s the high probability that there will be a mixed marriage with a bama girl and that’s just awkward and wierd

They are using the money to bring in kids from out of state, who upon graduation promptly leave Louisiana. What a great investment. Meanwhile, kids with 30-34 ACT who graduated from a Louisiana High School leave the state to attend college out of state on scholarship, never to return.

LSU gave me a full tuition/fees + room and board scholarship. I was from out of state. The second I graduated I left Louisiana. Thanks Louisiana taxpayers!!

That campus is surprisingly really nice. Was there over the weekend assessing the carnage from the tornado

It’s really kind of strange. You’d think with the massive brain drain LA has had that the states flagship destination for higher ed would emphasize getting our best and brightest.

Alabama has been reaching to out of state kids like crazy lately. I have known a few people at work in Louisiana and Texas who said their kids have gotten scholarships to Alabama with decent grades. None were super smart but it sounds like they just want kids from other states to offset the stereotypes they get from in state kids.

It’s the out of state kids That cause all the trouble. See that girl from new jersey a few years ago who was throwing racial slurs around thinking it was ok because she was in Alabama. I’ve also gone to Alabama for the LSU game the last four times it’s been played In T Town. The out of state kids are the ones acting the most idiotic and obnoxious because the whole concept of big time college football is new to them. The in state kids were all almost totally kind and gracious and very welcoming. My group in 2019 got verbally harassed by some drunken horde of students from buffalo who’s leader promptly started pissing himself as soon as he was done yelling.

You’re thinking of the t shirt Alabama fans. The students from Alabama are usually great.

I don't understand people who think Louisiana has no economy. We have a GREAT economy, the problem is the politicians. We have a way above average industrial corridor, the Mississippi River, a seafood industry, oil and gas, way above average tourist industry, agriculture, etc... the problem is CORRUPT government. I mean look at the resources of Maine, or Indiana, or Utah, or New Mexico, or Arkansas, or about 40 other states. We're way above them as far as OPPORTUNITY, but our CORRUPT politicians ruin it all. We need a whole new influx of people with integrity to run for office, not thieves and pimps.
