Another great one.

We had a variation of this game with a soccer ball. It somehow involved someone in each round standing against the wall with his back to everyone, and everyone kicking a ball at him. That's all I remember about it though.

We played a game called Medic which was dodgeball with a redemption factor. Each team had a "medic" which was a person pushing a little wheeled platform like a what you put large trash cans on to move them around. The medic would try to pick up teammates that were hit and get them behind a line to get them back in the game. The medic would be guarded, but if you killed the medic you only need to take everyone else out to win.

Wiffle Ball with the earmarked rule that the fielder could throw the ball at the runner if he already wasn't safe on base, if you hit them, the runner was out.
shite got pretty real once we started wrapping the ball in tape so we could get more distance out of hits.

It was always football everydamn day my entire elementary school time....on the blacktop parking lot. I can still remember the cheap plastic broncos football that my mom must have got on sale that we used for most of it

4 square
Lightning

Not sure what we called it but we played a tag style game where you started with one person who was "it" and everyone else would run back and forth between safe zones on each end of the school yard. If you got tagged you joined the person who was it. Main goal was to be the last person tagged.
ETA: That game got real interesting during winter when the playground area was icy

Yep. My school outlawed it after some kid went flying face first into the jungle gym and his face exploded.

This thread brought back two memories of school games.
1) I was I think in 9th or 10th grade and found myself as one of the last two in dodgeball vs I think 5. I was more than likely the "easy" option so I had 3 guys ready to kill me. For no reason I just postal on them screaming them and daring them to kill me. Two of the three threw but were way off, I was able to get one out quickly. The last guy waited to see how it all played out and eventually got me. In the end, I got 2/3 and learned the power of mind games, threw those guys off enough to mess with them.
2) I was in 2nd grade and was dared to climb the "rainbow" monkey bars, we were not allowed on them. I got almost to the peak and fell, breaking my left arm. I can still hear the sound in my head and get a little queasy. I also remember the principal using his paddle as the brace for my arm to prop on.

We played the shite out of this. Expect we pegged whoever didn't field it cleanly before they can touch the wall

Same. That version of wall ball is probably banned at schools now.

This might have been the only schoolyard game I didn't like. I thought it was boring and only the fat kids seemed to play it.
