Scrambling to get guns and clubs out of my house on the Pearl.

Left my Whaler tied to the back porch. Released the bow line from the trailer. My neighbor behind us stayed. He and his family rode out the storm in my boat, after the first surge blew his place away.

They survived.

That's actually a very cool story. I was helping my dad finish up the storm prep on our house in Kenna Brah. Due to his profession, he had to stay behind, so we didn't evacuate until the 28th.

I was enjoying daily threesomes with two women from Metairie that I had let ride out the storm with me in my house in BR.

ETA...I married one of them.

I was in divorce court. Judge granted the divorce in open court. Due to the hurricane cluster frick it was February before the paperwork was finalized.

Driving South on I-49, then East on I-10 - one of the few times in my life I felt heroic.

I was doing up to 100 mph at times - I never passed a single car and no car passed me - all the way to Carville.

Had 30 people and 6 dogs at my house in Baton Rouge and I was actually begging for school to start so I could get a break from our refugee camp. Love my cousins but it was absurd. We had a house built for 2 parents and 4 kids and my parents were divorced and I was the youngest and only one left at home, so we had a lot of room.

ETA:

Start of my senior year in HS and I would soon have a whole bunch of new classmates from Nola.

Sleeping off a hang over and inadvertently ignoring my dad's phone calls to wake up and evacuate. He came over to my dorm at Xavier University, ran past the dorm director, and beat on my door like a mad man. Spent hours in traffic trying to get to Houma, LA from Xavier. Stuck in traffic being lectured to about being responsible while trying to cope with a hangover. It was bad, before the storm even hit.

Worked in Metairie before katrina hit. Rember leaving work that Friday thinking it was hitting Tampa area, then Saturday seeing it was dropping pressure but not gaining wind speed and headed to Pensacola area. Woke up Sunday morning and saw that it was a super storm so headed that night to BR to my Parents.

Needless to say, my last day of work in metairie was that friday, 2-1';2 weeks later i started work at a new job in BR... where i am at today
