It is indeed beautiful but it’s not as old or Catholic as Notre Dame.

The National Cathedral is Episcopalian. There is a National Baslica in DC that is Catholic.

The Notre Dame is 4 times older than the entire history of the United States as the nation. We have a lot of things we take national pride in, but all of it, except Mount Rushmore, is pretty replaceable. We do have quite a few natural parks and such that would be a detrimental loss if that were to happen.

ETA: Someone mentioned Independence Hall. I think that would be a huge loss for our nation.

Not architecture wise but I think the Smithsonian burning down would be a huge blow to the country.

For a combination of age plus religious and general cultural symbolism, there are some pretty great Native American mounds around.

But don’t worry. We’ve already screwed with/built highways through many of them already, so they’ve already had their burning.

Bristlecone Pines are oldest living things on the planet....or they were at one point. I don't know if they have been supplanted by another discovery.

Probably like monticello, st. patrick's cathedral, US Capitol (and various other DC locations), Trinity Church, Washington National cathedral

I think would be ones both architecturally and culturally significant

This. Our buildings are mostly new enough to be replaceable relative to Notre Dame.
