The Capitol or White House would be the only thing that would compare from a national standpoint.

Statue of Liberty would be pretty fricking bad. Half of your ancestors that came to America that was the first thing they saw before getting off the boats.

Independence Hall would be a big one.

The birthplace of the United States of America

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that 3 out of 4 Americans couldn’t tell me what that building was if I showed them a picture. It’s not even a measurable fraction of Notre Dame.

Independence Hall... you can rebuild a replica, but it isn’t the building entrance the Founding Fathers used, not the window they looked through, etc...

The twin towers were worse because of the death toll, but I don’t think they were as iconic to the U.S. as Notre Dame is to France.

The towers fell when I was 7 or 8, I didn’t even know anything about the WTC before then. Had never heard of it.

Nothing really because of how long that thing stood. But the impact of it being destroyed...I'd think

Statue of Liberty would be the first thing to come to mind.

Imho...the Statue of Liberty would be our equivalent. People are posting some great options though.
