I had the same pair of Bolle sunglasses for 15 years. Tough glasses, but they were starting to delaminate and it was time to move on from them.

It took me a while to find a pair that I liked. I hated just about every pair of Oakleys I tried on; especially their Prizm lenses which had a slight magnification and the edges would look distorted. I ordered a pair of Gatorz, but sent them back immediately. They were uncomfortable.

I finally settled on a pair of Costas - the Ultimate Baw Sunglasses.

$12 Home Depot polarized. Fancy Costas are nice, but I always end up scratching them.

Maui Jim's are by far the best I've ever owned. They simply don't get scratched and hold up really well. They have earned my business for life. frick Costa's....

IDC about brand. I have prescription sunglasses so the lenses are not from the brand. I have a pair of nike and a pair of oakley. I make sure they wrap around sufficiently to block the sun reflecting off the water and fit my face... IDC what I look like, I care about what I can see.

Maui Jim is my go to. I also like Vuarnet, but they are kinda expensive. They do have sales every now and then and you can get a pair for a reasonable price. I bought a $450 pair for $100 a few years ago on a sale and they are the clearest lens I’ve ever owned.

Most of my prescription eyeglasses have clip-on shades. I think the only pair of regular sunglasses I have are Matsuda 10611H like this:

Luxottica owns so many brands and most of them are overpriced and inferior quality.

The kind Wal-Mart sells for $20.

There is no telling how many hundreds or even thousands of dollars I've spent on name brand shades since the mid 90s. With the nature of my work they get broken or scratched up. Just not worth the money.

Maui Jim Red Sands for me…. If they keep making them, I’ll keep wearing them.
