You will still have to deal with poorly run parish services and the surrounding parishes aren’t much better at most things. St. George isn’t gonna be the paradise people think.
Maybe you’re right. Let’s just give up.

Oh well.

the right to choose your governance is embedded in the constitution and the principles upon which this country is founded. Why are so many so scared to put this to a vote?
I'll come right out and say that the current and likely future leadership of BR reflects neither my own values nor my own interests. Why is it so damning for me to want something better? We get one 80 year try at this life and I'll be damned if I'm going to settle for incompetence and graft

Is St George basically West Monroe vs Baton Rouge / Monroe
Explain it for Northern Baws

You mean like the St. George contingent?

NBR gave up and wants this area to support them.

Because voters consistently no-show important votes. Remember how St George voters couldn't be bothered to show up and vote against the COA tax?

By trying to incorporate, a move which will do nothing toward creating an ISD?

Not really. I don’t think the schools are that good in WM. My relatives still sent their children to cedar crest in Ruston. And while there are plenty of nice neighborhoods there is also a fair amount of white trash in WM.

I don't care who goes to my son's school, as long as they live in that school district. Bussing kids in from other parts of the city is plain bullshite.
Magnet schools are better for everyone, as long as you have accountability and can "expel" kids back to their zoned school if they don't meet the rigorous standards set.

Cedar Creek
I guess Sterlington is the hot white flight area?
Yeah I still rep Monroe - West Monroe is trashy lol

I'm glad they are taking that tactic. There is no guarantee a city leads to an ISD.
Then what is the point?
Go fight the idiots at the Capitol, then, to change the asinine law that requires an ISD to be in an incorporated municipality.

Who is ‘they?’ You do realize all of the great areas within BR city limits that aren’t NBR? The whole us vs. them is a friking myth. You might eventually fix schools, but your parish government, services and the state is still broken compared to almost every other state.

BR people: OMG our public schools are integrating let’s leave the schools (destroys public schools creating segregationist “private” schools)
Not why they are leaving, but given your outlook on life I can see how you came to that conclusion.
quote:
Same BR people: I shouldn’t have to pay for my white school, taxes should cover it. Let’s leave the city (they fail, but then divert all tax dollars to their development divesting from other areas destroying the majority black schools and communities)
I would be surprised if even ONE person made that argument.
quote:
Same BR people: if they want to use our tax dollars for “black issues” and not get rid of the Mayor like we want we’re just going to leave the city (there’s a common thread here in regards to schools and communities, but it ISNT education or community development)
Clearly, you’ve never lived in Baton Rouge.
