Years later, when they finally had the petition, people noticed the 2 small areas where the apartments had gone downhill, and become shitty, were stripped off their map.
Oh...those areas weren't on the original map. When SG organizers got questioned for the reason they were left off, they reluctantly put them in.
They took them out this time under the ruse of "not enough support last time".
I'm sure they have empirical evidence of that though.

I don't blame them for trying again. I say "them" because we live in the city limits about 1/4 of a mile from the St George border.
Guess I'll see how it plays out and either keep my kid in private school or move. I still want it to happen though. The school situation in this city is ridiculous. People that care about their kids' education have 3 options
- try to get them accepted into a magnet program
- pay private school tuition
- move to the burbs

Nowhere else in the country to rich white people have to send their kids to private school because their local schools are so shitty.
I don't know why or how southern LA found themselves in that position but it is definitely racist and definitely fricked up.

The chick he was quoting went to a private school that's probably 90+% white.

Because the rich white people abandoned the schools when poor blacks were allowed in.
Notice Zachary always had good schools even before their seperate system.
But those folks were involved in the schools.

They have a record of who signed the first petition and where they lived. It's not too hard to figure out where their support resides.

If only they had the foresight to keep a record of who signed the last petition and sent it to the registrar of voters to certify which signatures were proper based on registered address and which weren't.

They did. They announced today that everyone who signed last time will get a mailer with a petition enclosed.
The main problem with apartments is the transient people and dated voter registrations. You can have 100 apartments with 500 families registered to vote, and only 30 of them still live there. That's exaggerated obviously, but the problem is real.

I wonder how Parkview Baptist feels about this. They may not lose a ton of students, but a FREE school that is within their boundaries? They won't gain any.
Anyone with insight on that?

My kid attends Parkview. I talked to the school head at a birthday party during the original attempt and he said that he expected some decline in enrollment if it passed.
A lot of the wealthy parents won't care and some choose private school because of the religious aspect. There are many kids there that live in Ascension.

If this were to happen, I will predict that the new St. George Police Department will set records for amounts of tickets written in order to fill their coffers.
Nope. EBRSO will be the police department.

From what I’ve seen, the organizers seem to really have their shite together this time. They didn’t rush things; they took their time to get all their ducks in a row. They predicted the mayor’s reaction as well as the reactions of others who oppose it, and were quickly able to shoot down their claims regarding new taxes with their own data-driven report. SWB and Gravy and their followers are feeling the heat this go-round.

If you want to see a gerrymandered map, look at what Baton Rouge did to include the Mall of Louisiana in the city.
You got that right.
Mikee the City-Parish annexed a freakIng drainage canal to move the city limits in order to annex the Siegen shopping center.

Not a ruse, you stupid shite. The areas that were dropped had single diget support. They didn't want In, so the people in charge listened to them and cut them out.

Yeah. They do. All of us do. All you have to do is crunch the numbers. But it's far easier to just yell racism and bitch like the petulant child you are.

Not only do they know who signed last time, but also who signed and removed their name and who was disqualified.

First go round besides the race card, opponents said people were being forced to be in SG and the proposed city was too large.
Now they are cutting people out and it's smaller.
How about that!!!
