I love and appreciate quiet solo rides now. Funnily enough my favorite moments are also car rides with everyone. I guess I just really like being in the car

No kids but married. Biggest thing I miss sometimes is making a selfish on the spot decision. Sure, I may make the same decision but there’s an added layer to the process now. Nothing that would change my mind on marriage but it’s a thing for sure.

Getting laid as the sun comes up. Maybe not a small thing, but random.

Silence.
Back in the day I’d crank tunes to and from work. Now, just silence. All music off. Just pure, blissful silence to and from. Get in the far right lane and just go with the flow.
Probably has something to do with my daughters being 4 and 2 also.

As someone with a 2 week old (our first child) it’s easily having 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep

Agreed. She's gone half of the time so my wife and I pretty much do whatever we want at this point.

Not having a wife and kids

This. The wife and I had it for about 3 years but then her daughter----my stepdaughter-----started having psychotic episodes and has been diagnosed as "Schizo-effective" and from my understanding, that is like being bi-polar and schizophrenic at the same time.
She's been back home for 4 years now, on her meds and doing OK, but it was a hell of a ride getting to this point.

Solo road trips while crushing tall boys and listening to the radio.

Finally, a thread that makes us lonely selfish folks feel better about our poor life choices.

My oldest can drive now. Created a few hours each week.
As has been said, silence, or the random day with nothing scheduled.
Parental “achievements”
Kid eating on his own.
Going to the bathroom on his own
Able to swim in a pool without you
Homework on his own.
Driving
Moving out/leaving for college.
Them getting married
Grandkids.
Not sure if I left anything out.
OP good question/thread topic.

My wife can turn an hour early into 5 minutes late

I understand your feelings. I remember those days well.
Often, it seems too quiet for me now. I miss the days off following my kids around and spending what seems like an eternity at the ball park.
I’m looking forward to grandkids one day. Little ones to look after and help raise with the greatest perk of all, being able to send them home when you’re worn out.

Letting people slide with shite… from skipping in lines, hard stares, being rude, etc… lot of stuff the younger me would have met with the same energy… now not so much…

Random 4ball golf tourneys. Used to play 6 or 7 a year. If I play in 2 this year it will feel excessive.
