The two companies are owned by textron but I’m not sure if the families are still around. If they are they keep to themselves it seems like.

James Elrod comes to mind.

quote:yea there’s actually been a ton of businesses start here. Koch industries, Cessna, Beechcraft, trane air conditioning, the Coleman company, Pizza Hut, Freddy’s, White Castle(not even present in Wichita, or I think Kansas for that matter, anymore), and a couple hotel brands. Surprised me when I first moved here how much has come from here.
Wichita is such a random place for a large city. It reminds me of NW Arkansas' relationship with Wal Mart, Tyson, and JB Hunt. They really benefit from Koch and the aerospace industry having such a large presence there.

I’m picturing a wealthier version of Kenny Powers’ Mexican brother here

I’ve heard a rumor of a well known individual in our area. As for “power moves” I’d say this is up there. IMO
O-T Baller goes to a yacht company and designs his dream. Spends tons of time picking out every detail. At the end he’s told he is #7 on the list and will have to wait. He asks if he can pay an amount to have his started next. They tell him unfortunately, no. There’s nothing they can do. He says fine. Shortly after he purchases said yacht company and has them start his build immediately.

The concrete plant owner Cody Docheff and his family keep messing with me in my muffler shop. One day I will show them.

Elrod was once powerful/ influential in NW La.
Never one of the wealthy and certainly not Old Money.
Truth is, “old money”rarely dates back more than 100 years in these parts.

Got a letter the other day from a law firm founded in 1820. One of the names on the letterhead was born on 1798. I don't know how wealthy they are but they've been around a long time.

Friends with an asphalt business. They live frugally and don’t flaunt the money. Got a pocketful for sure.

Old money in St.Tammany is
Wynn - Lawyers and land
Warner - P&w and Parish concrete
Goodyear - Land (Money Hill)
McWilliams - The Mc in Freeport McMoRan
Others......Boone Kenyon, Riecke and McMath
Just to name a few. There are a few others that stay pretty quiet but when they call, politicians drop whatever they are doing.

Greshams are pretty stout. Own Gresham petroleum and started the double quick gas stations. Good people
There are several large farmers and catfish plant owners/farmers around. Really no one family in the area who runs shite. It’s a conglomeration of wealthy business owners and farmers. Pretty much anyone who is on the Delta Council, which includes myself. Delta Council is a group comprised of delta business owners and leaders who work to create economic development and solve local problems. There are several sub committees that target different industries or issues like aquaculture committees, water and soil conservation committee, economic development committee, etc. Anyone who is a member wields at least some influence in the delta town they’re from otherwise they wouldn’t be a member

You are partially correct but not all of the families you mention still have any swing.
The most obvious is the Knight family. They’re done. Mark was a greedy idiot who tried to frame Bryan so he could gain control of the business. By doing so, he caused the demise of the business his father built. Had he been patient, it would have worked itself out. Bryan died a couple of months after Mrs. Ann. Kelly (a Houston resident for a couple decades), and Bryan’s son inherited the bulk of the estate. Mark was left out in the cold.
The family you missed is the Billeaud family.
