Boustany (business, public office) Saloom (Law, public office)
Lemoine (Construction)

You are partially correct but not all of the families you mention still have any swing.
The most obvious is the Knight family. They’re done. Mark was a greedy idiot who tried to frame Bryan so he could gain control of the business. By doing so, he caused the demise of the business his father built. Had he been patient, it would have worked itself out. Bryan died a couple of months after Mrs. Ann. Kelly (a Houston resident for a couple decades), and Bryan’s son inherited the bulk of the estate. Mark was left out in the cold.
The family you missed is the Billeaud family. If you want to talk about FU money, it’s them. There are others but the Billeauds hide their wealth well.

We're so poor where I live, we can't afford a town drunk so someone takes turns every weekend.

Stuller is on the top of that list and no else is even close.
I don't know enough about Billeauds but the next 5+ generations of Stullers will have FU money.

It was rumored that Benny did. But he's loaded, so he probably paid someone off.
Dude owns 55,000 acres in Gheens and a good portion of Bayou Blue too. He sold Cenac towing to Enterprise for almost $600,000,000 signed a 5 year non compete, turned around and bought a shipyard and made a few boats to get back in business when the non compete was up. Now he's at about where he was before he sold out.
One of his twins likes to fish, so he sunk $30,000,000 into the CoCo Marina.
With that said hes also made a lot of people rich. Getting them started in business and then giving them companies.

I’ve seen quite a few doing energy development work. Some rich local doesn’t get a piece of the action and shuts down permits or just starts filing law suits to be a cocksucker. It’s irritating but I get paid for reports and having to testify, so I make more money and they hardly ever win after some capital markets bros call in a big law firm to drag their nuts across some local dickweed’s face.

Getting started in my career, my first boss was a Billeaud. Still keep in touch with him and ask him for advice. Great guy, would never know he has money. One of my coworkers asked how he got rich, he replied ‘the old fashioned way, I inherited it.’

I had the privilege of hunting with one of the them in Pecan island a decade or so ago. You are correct, he had an old beat up hunting jacket while everyone else was sporting the latest and greatest. Old man was a joy to talk to as well.

The only wealthy people I'm really tight with are the Curtis family from Many.

As an individual, you are correct. Matt built that business from the trunk of his car; he is a true success story. His dad was a dentist but they weren’t considered wealthy.
As a family, no. Billleaud has him beat.

Lol, I’m not a lawyer. I just watch from the sidelines and do technical reports and get called to testify. But I get to see the theatrics and watch a big firm let a bunch of junior associates from top tier law schools run a train on some shithole town law firm, so it’s entertaining.

I have heard they are well off but never knew from what. Matt has insane money. So how did the Billeauds become wealthy?

It was the Targarins, but they ran that mouth much and Barathians usurped them

There is no old money in Shreveport. Zip. Nada. zilch. You are either dirt poor or barely upper middle class.

I figured it had to be land.
I think you may be underestimating Stuller though. Before your brought up Billeaud, there is less than a dozen people/family in this state that are more wealthy than him.
