Have you ever looked at the average Chick Fil a worker vs the average McDonalds worker ?

This is not rocket science

They are not good workers. You simpletons just have really really really low expectations.

It's management.

The GM is there every day, and the line management actually cares about their jobs. So they make sure it's staffed properly (both in numbers and in ability).

Other fast food places do this as well, but they are rare. I've been to some McDonalds that are OUTSTANDING with their staff, and usually, the guy who owns it only owns a few and is often in there.

CFA generally does not pay more than comparable quick service.

It's a cultural thing. It permeates the pool of people who want to become operators, the people selected, the managers they hire, the training they do, the people drawn to work in the restaurants and the people selected.

CFA was heavily influenced by Ritz Carlton (Truett took my pleasure from RC), and RC's service was centered around ensuring that everyone, dishwashers for example, knew that they were a vital part of the chain and if their work was not done with pride it could invalidate (make/break) the entire experience of a guest. CFA does similarly, and they also beat into the heads of employees how significant a small role can be - for example, a stressed mom with 3 kids coming in for lunch knows she'll get good and reliable service at CFA and that the CFA employees can have a genuine impact on making her day smoother, etc.

Chic-fil-a has a larger pool of willing workers to select from.

Look at it this way, if you have a 16 year old looking for their first job. IMO only CFA and Canes are fast food options. I would not let them work any where else.

They do. Same guy owns the one on college and the LSU union. Pretty sure he owns the one on Millerville as well.

However, the vast majority do own only one.

Correct

Simple; it's called doing a real face-to-face job interview

Don't they have a decent scholarship program? They hire a lot of teenagers, and they pay their managers fairly well compared to other fast food places.

They work through local churches and schools to recruit people with morals and ethics and not blanket hiring anyone. Closed Sundays is also a huge win to work there for kids.

You can only get one, and then if you do a great job, years later a second, and then if you are a superstar, years later, maybe a third.

Whereas the average franchise owner for McD might have 20-30 or more.

It’s who they hire. They let the trash work at places like McDonald’s and don’t hire them

Don't hire trash. Easy as that.

And the management team cares and they put these people to work.

If not, they gone. They don't play.

It's easy to cut a crew member without firing.

If they don't do their job they don't get hours.

Eventually they'll move on.

RC refers to their associates as "Ladies and Gentlemen", as in, "The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton New Orleans appreciate you staying with us". Stuff like that costs zero dollars and yet can have a huge impact on employee morale, which in turn, makes a better experience for their customers.

CFA might throw a few dollars here and there to a scholarship fund, but it mainly comes down to hiring good managers who treat people with respect. There is of course a cost to hiring good managers.

The scholarships are just another piece in what you're talking about, I agree. Convincing 16 year olds that they matter to a multi billion dollar company, as well as that the work they do matters to people in their community - is something that can't be credibly implemented in a managerial talk or campaign. They'll know if it's fake or not.

Treated with more respect.

Oh.. and profiling during the interview process.
