My degree is in EE (with a focus on computer eng.). First job was for a company that made word processors (this was before PCs were ubiquitous). Got laid off on my first day at work but that's a different story. Ended up going to work for an oilfield service company designing CBL tools. Was in that industry for about 10 years and now work for a company that makes traffic control equipment.

Started selling liquor at the Albertsons on College Dr. Great way to meet chicks. They hand you all of their personal data when you ask.

Put a resume together 6 months later. Left off the 6 months at Albertsons.

Test Engineer for a defense contractor but had to move to Rochester NY to get it. Must have sent out 100 resumes with maybe 5 responses and 2 job offers.

Too cold so moved back to LA and got a job in process automation engineering than sales, been great.

Degree was a crappy BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Nicholls but had electronics and computer skills from the military. That’s primarily how I got the Defense Contractor job.

Process Technology degree, got a job 3 weeks after I graduated working for a construction/gravel company that was building a frac sand plant. Worked there for a year and a half and saw it built then went to the oilfield for more money. Should have stuck with it.

Marketing major --> Traffic Coordinator at a pharmaceutical advertising agency in Chicago --> Salary was $22,000 but included overtime (and this was in 2002).

My to-be-boss wondered why I was hesitating to accept on the spot, and in my head I'm thinking "uh, because I'm not sure I can even survive on that". But I drove back to Green Bay, loaded up the car and headed back a couple days later.

And now I'm an OT baller.
