I would imagine the biggest chance of that happening in terms of regular occurrences for the gulf coast would be hurricanes. I've only lived in the area about 3 years as a full time resident and I've always wanted to get a bag/plan together so if an evacuation becomes necessary I can grab just that one thing and by out the door ASAP and on the road in case things deteriorate quickly. Given all else that's going on with rioting/protesting I no longer find it appealing to live in an urban area without a quick plan of action to get the hell out of dodge should things go awry .

Does anyone here have a "doomsday" scenario for something like this? I'll be honest figuring out what I may need/getting it ready makes me feel a big paranoid but I'd rather have everything organized and ready to go than be scrambling in an emergency.

I got a buddy in Jennings who's got a bunker of weapons, water, food stores for a year+

This is the dude who wakes up everyday and when it's *NOT* the Zombie Apocalypse... he's pissed

The shite hit the fan in 2005 with Katrina. I survived without a doomsday bag.

We have a family bug out shelter

Alternative forms of comms, supplies, weapons

We do a practice run every 6 months

Both generators at the camp went out in on December 27, 1999 so we lived up there for 3 years not knowing if the millennium bug destroyed everything or not

I seriously do have a safe room in the lower level of my house. I'm not super stocked long term, but I could last @ a month at this point on what's there.

I dream of living in a log cabin home in the remote areas of Montana and having an underground bunker as a fall back plan for "The End Days".

Looking at how elaborate some of them are is awesome.

Have a friend in the suburbs 10-20 minutes outside the city. There's about a 99.9% chance that if shite hits the fan in the city from protests and riots, you can drive to his house where it would be life as normal there.

I read a little piece by a guy who lived through the Yugoslav breakup. If you're not part of a group, you're toast. A loner won't survive. The baddest MFer in the world has to sleep sometime. You don't have to be a weapons expert yourself, but you need to be affiliated with someone armed and able/willing to use it. You need a skill you can barter for things you need. Medical, carpenter, mechanic are good. Even being able to sing and play the guitar. Your tribe needs to be big enough to make a hard target, but not big enough to draw undue attention. Get your shite done during the day and be bunkered up well before dark
