I have a bag with a couple thousand cash, emergency credit card, change of clothes for each family member, wind up powered radio, wind up flashlight, solar recharger block, pistols, ammo, dildo, spaghetti-os, vienna sausage, hemerroid cream, tongue vibrator, playboy, playgirl, butt plug, and waffles.
Like frozen waffles or waffle mix?

Blow up my TV
Throw away the papers
Move to the country
Build me a home
Plant a little garden
Eat a lot of peaches
Try to find Jesus
On my own.
And, of course bring my woman and lots of ammo.

Have a 'bug-out bag', aka BOB, ready.
One of the best books on the BOB written is by Creek Stewart, you may have seen him on the Weather Channel and a few other shows, he is all over YouTube as well.
Build The Perfect BOB
Very comprehensive book that is very easy to read with lots of recommendations
A few considerations on the BOB, make sure it doesn't exceed 25% of your body weight.
For an average male, it shouldn't be more than 35-40 lbs.
For an average female, the weight shouldn't exceed 25-30 lbs.
You see young Marines and soldiers lugging around 85-90lb ruck sacks or experienced hikers carrying a huge backpacks. These are the exceptions.
Keep your BOB as light as possible.
Have one for each family member, this includes the little ones as well.
Don't go 'tacti-cool' with your BOB, keep a low profile as possible, use the gray-man concept.
There will lots of desperate folks out there who are not prepared and who will steal your supplies and may even resort to violence to obtain your stuff.
Get a good durable backpack that is comfortable to you, stay away from the cheapo's. You may have to lug it around a few hours a day.
Spend the extra money and research several names, Kelty is good, Osprey is one of the best as is Kifaru.
Go for redundancy, especially with water, fire making capabilities. Have as many options as possible.
Lint from your clothes dryer make very good kindling, lip balm is good too. Fine steel wool and a small battery will start a good little fire.
Get a couple of water bladders like a Platypus. Get something like a stainless steel water carrier like Kleancanteen if you have to boil your water.
Sawyer makes great water filtration products that can be purchased on-line or even at Wally-World.
Katadyn makes world class water filtration products that are second to none.
Basic 1st Aid kit, with triple antibiotic ointment, don't overlook laxatives in case you get 'stopped-up' and conversely, an anti-diarrhea medicine in case you ingest something nasty.
Have a few cases of bottled water nearby in-case you have to evacuate the area quickly. Mountain House makes fairly decent tasting dehydrated meals, plus they will keep for years.
MREs are decent in a pinch but they will clog you up.
Have a few blankets at the ready to throw in your vehicle.
Plus a couple of baseball caps per person and a pair or two sunglasses could be a lifesaver.
I know, I know, TL/DNR

Only the strong survive. Head to the swamp. Make a living. Do it well. No one else is stupid enough to look for you there.

I've read something similar, if not the same piece. The guy goes into great detail about everything. Even how walking in the street was a huge no because snipers would just pick off people for sport. Very interesting.

Go live on our 1000 acre ranch in the middle of nowhere. Cabin is already fully stocked and it pretty much stays that way.

Lake D'arbonne in North Louisiana, we have a fishing camp way up a feeder creek.
