It’s not my thing at all, just throwing out things in the area.

Bastrop would be a great place to live in your situation if you don’t mind the minor commute. Pflugerville is ok but too much of an urban sprawl.

Used to go out to a power house there a bunch. Nice town. Great bbq. Lakes and trails for outdoorsy stuff. Roughly 1/2 way between Austin and Houston.

Good luck on the weird sprawling your way.

Like are you moving there? Or just to visit?

Lost Pines Resort has cool stuff if you are staying there.

Not far from Austin so you have all that Austin has to offer.

West of Austin you have all the Hill Country.

That area has a lot of outdoor stuff.

You are close to the Colorado River.

Go to a place literally called, “The Gas Station.”
It’s where part of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed in 1973. They’ve turned it into sort of a shrine, with cabins for overnight. They also serve BBQ, that wasn’t bad. I think it was pork I was eating…??
Guess you’ll have to be a fan of the movie to appreciate it.

Bastrop state park has rock cabins to rent and a small very nice lake.. rent small boats.. canoes etc… I have stayed in them.

Lost pines is a Hyatt resort with nice golf course, lazy river , dinner , fishing etc.. I have stayed there a few times for company business… you will feel as special as you want to spend.
