Plus, they are pronounced different.

How so? I lived in Monroe and I now live in Houston. I cannot tell the difference at all in pronunciation.

While getting shot at is certainly on the list of things to do in Bastrop, LA, they do have Simmons and Wal Mart which Bastrop, TX does not have

There is a Walmart on Highway 71 in Bastrop, TX - it’s not new either

I've heard them both hundreds of times and just don't hear the difference. Maybe the tiniest rop-rup, but it's barely noticeable.

If you pronounce Bastrop in the city in Texas like you would back in Mecca they will look at you funny. Trust me.

Like I said. I just don't hear that much difference between the 2. Unless you mean Ba-arse-Tru-up. I went to NLU and have been in Cypress a long time. I think the biggest difference is between the super drawn out La. drawl and just saying it.

One ends in -strop. One ends is -strup. They are not the same.

Went to Bastrop today to do some work with the district. I got there a bit early so I drove around. Really nice historic downtown neighborhood with a lot of cool old school houses. But I live in a historic neighborhood currently so that’s kinda my thing.

Mostly conservative signs in an election year. Had a good lunch.

If you have kids coming in, I was impressed with the district’s desire to not waste money on dumb things and their desire to reduce cost. I work exclusively with K12 and I’m amazed at how many overpay for services that can be done much cheaper.

No masks required. I still have some customers that won’t take visits.

Wouldn’t be the first place I’d move to if I had to, but I wouldn’t complain about it much if it was my only choice.
