It's been refreshing to read a thread about marriages that isn't overwhelmingly negative.

My parents met in November at 18 and 19 years old. Got engaged in February. Married in August. Were married 61 years.

I have a lot of Mormon buddies. A couple of them married their wives like a month after dating. They're all still happily married.
There were some similar comments by others. In a similar vein, an (East) Indian guy that worked for me told me that his marriage was arranged for him. His wife worked at the same company, and when we needed overtime help, they both would come in and work for us on weekends. She was very nice and personable, smart, and a hard worker. And.. she was super cute/attractive (this after having two kids). I mean, really, really nice. I might even have pictures (but give me a chance to dig around for them).
We would kid him, "I hope you thank your parents every day for setting you up with her!"
Later, I heard some interviews with couples with arranged marriages. The common theme seemed to be - "You might not be infatuated and 'in love' with that person from the start, but you grow together and learn to love and respect each other." I guess I can see that working. Also, from what I understand (at least in more modern times), this isn't a forced thing, the parents bring them together, and if it doesn't work it doesn't work, they don't get married to each other.

My grandparents met one afternoon, went to the fair that night, got married the next day. 5 kids, service in Korea and Vietnam, and married 60 years later they both passed within 6 months if each other.

It’s feasible that if both people are mature people and both want to be in a marriage then they can make it work fine for decades: So many people end up divorced due to the lack of the will to be in it.

I have been married 42 years and I dated my wife for 5 months. Was a bit hasty I’ll agree but she is my best friend today.

Quickest I’ve seen was my second marriage.
Engaged in 2 months, married in 4 months.
This Dec. will make 29 years.

I married one after 6 months of dating. Realized it was a screw up about a year into it. She loved the dope more than she loved me. After 5 years of trying to make it work, I ran her off
I'll add this. I met my wife now at a friends house. We were randomly talking and she was telling me about her having to move and didnt care where she was. I jokingly told her she could rent a room from me. She called the next day and asked if I would consider it. I did. It didn't last a week her sleeping in a separate room. We were both single, so why not. Got married a year later. Shes my best friend by far.

Army, two soilders less than a month. Talked to him 2 years later in Iraq, his wife got out the Army while pregnant before heading to Iraq then he went home on leave he found everything gone, including savings and anything valuable pawned off and she was able to take out several payday loans in his name. Then later he finds out the kid is not his. They were both from Vegas and he said later on his sister seen her on a flyer working as a prost. That bitch was obviously crazy.

My mom's oldest sister got married two weeks after meeting. My uncle had just got back at the end of World War II from being a bombardier in Europe. They met and stayed together the next 54 years until she died of cancer.

I married my wife 10 months after we met. I was in the army and wasn’t around her a lot for those 10 months really. I was gone a lot.
We’ve been married 31 years and she makes me incredibly happy. Honestly, we never argue, talk all the time every day and we make each other laugh. It’s an awesome relationship.

Isn’t this how most arranged marriages work, and their success ratio is far higher than in Western culture?

My nephew got married in about 30 seconds. They planned an outdoor wedding on a beach. It was going to be nice... big arch built over where they stood, sand pouring ceremony etc.
Storms were rolling through and they delayed several times and then thought they had a window of time to get it in.
Preacher opened with "we are gathered here in the presence of God, obviously" and at that moment a 50 mph gust hit and blew everything away. He finished in 30 seconds and everyone ran for their life.
Memorable wedding.

My ex and I had some Indian friends. They talked about it a lot. The man loved it, the woman didnt. I thought that was interesting.

Six months. They are divorcing after five years due to red flags that could’ve been seen with more diligence.
