Apollo Space Missions.
We were living in Tampa and there was always stuff happening in the skies, test launches, test firings of the rocket boosters, experimental craft flown in/out.
My 3rd birthday was a space themed event, even had a little spacesuit with helmet and a round cake with white frosting and a lunar landing pod.
Iconic Walter Cronkite giving the play by play from pre-launch through countdown, liftoff, and then orbits/landing on the moon.
Later in the real early 70's I remember the Viet Nam War footage of the dead, dying, wounded, the flamethrowers into tunnels or onto village huts, the reporters being hunkered down behind fallen trees for cover during firefights. Anti War efforts allowed broadcasters to show stuff you just won't see again, every night during prime time news.
I remember Nixon live doing "Sock it to me" for Laugh-In a year or 2 before Watergate. ETA: Just googled it and Nixon was pre-election 1968 appearance, sheesh I was 4 and remember it!

The Kuwait war. I remember standing by my dad and watching the anti aircraft guns firing off. It was night time so it was lots of green on the tv.

I remember watching some politician commit suicide on live tv. Guy was in trouble for something and pulled a gun out and killed him self during his press conference.
That video is insane.

Pan Am flight 759. July 9, 1982. I was at a daycare blocks from Williams Blvd. Debris was all around us. My parents couldn't get to me for several hours. I was 6.

Did you see that at the movie theaters? Or were you one of those rich kids with the first TVs?

Was coming to post this. I was born in 82. But I think it was later than 86.
Edit: it was October of 87
I wonder how she is doing these days and what ever became of her.
ETA: I clicked on the link and see that she went on to graduate high school, get married, and have 2 children. Good for her. That $800k trust fund would be helpful to receive for an even she probably doesn't even remember much at all.

One of the moon landings (not the first) and coming home from elementary school to watch TV and nothing was on except Watergate on every single channel.
