This is coming from someone who doesn’t like carpet at all.

Those things also come with a handy dandy nutrition guide. That’s how they work. It’s false advertising.

I'm sticking with OP on diamonds. If you truly wanted a shiny rock, manufactured diamonds are higher quality and WAY cheaper.
Although, you could argue there would have always been something to fill the place for conspicuous wealth.

For pure marketing genius, the Pet Rock. Their boxing, fake instructions, were genius

Boneless, skinless, tasteless chicken breasts are pretty much the most tasteless, worthless piece of cardboard that people keep in their fridge today. There's not a close second.
Its the least flavorful meat in existence. You have to marinate it, cover it in sauce, fry it, or heavily season it with something to bring it up to a palatable level, which is the mark of a terrible cut. The meat ends up being simply a vehicle to transport the flavor of something else.
At least people recognize that chicken breast is bland and will cover it up. The biggest culinary con job is getting people to pay a lot to eat tasteless filet mignon by itself.

Good filet mignon isn't tasteless at all. It's less flavorful than a great ribeye, of course, but that certainly doesn't render it flavorless. Moreover, often it's priced pretty similarly to a very good ribeye at a top steakhouse.
IMO a great ribeye beats a perfect filet, but a mediocre filet beats a mediocre (unevenly marbled) ribeye, unless you just like eating steak fat.

Only the specialty drinks are priced like that. A cup of starbucks coffee is like 2-3 bucks and is better than pretty much any comparable chain. That's more an indictment of the lack of good coffee elsewhere than it is praise for Starbucks.
Someone will come along claiming that gas station or McDonalds coffee is better, but unless you're a Folgers/Keurig coffee drinker, it's not.
