We’re surrounded by low IQ humans. Defensive driving is the only way
I’m always thinking about my exit strategy if I’m coming to a complete stop on a highway. If I’m stopped at a red light, I leave plenty enough space for me to jump a curb or pull onto the shoulder if some maniac tries to car jack me.
Don’t get me started on pumping gas. Ole girl is coming with me on my hip, even if the holder in my truck is 2 feet away.

Mad at the world because they lost in whatever they’re driving to do

Pride, Wrath... Selfishness

was driving on a two lane state highway with my kids, this HWY has direct access to connecting roads and business entrances, and a 55 mph speed limit
I knew well in advance I am making a right turn, start to slow down and put the signal on, then the car behind us decides to speed up and ride our arse to the point as I am turning he practically clips me as he passes. Almost seeming angry that I would slow them down for a brief second so I could turn in.
Before I jump on your band wagon, by chance did you pull out in front of that guy, without enough room for you to get up to speed before he caught up to you, and then turn back off the road a quarter mile down? Meanwhile, there was no one behind him and you should have waited?
If the above is true, you are in the wrong. If not, then proceed with your rant.

Like I've taught my wife ( and others), take the decision away from them.
Use the accelerator the same way you use the brake pedal...

People cruising in the passing lane jamming up traffic for miles causes the majority of “angry drivers”. If you aren’t passing someone, get the frick in the right lane. It’s a pretty easy concept.
That isn’t an excuse for driving like the guy in the OP’s description. No one is saying you aren’t allowed to get angry while driving. It’s how you control those feelings of anger, and most people don’t know how to do that anymore

The anger was about the inefficiency of your actions. It is generally not necessary to slow down before exiting. It affects other people.
Those kind of decisions are rampant among women drivers and Asians.

No shite. This is irrelevant to what the OP is describing though

the mindset?
they're angry
they're angry

He said "turn" not "exit".
When possible, you should maintain speed on exit ramps, although we have some shitty ones in this state where ypu better get it down to 25 ASAP.

You have an obligation to make an effort to get out of the way on a 55 mph highway. Did you make the turn as if it were a stop sign like a grandma?
It was a straight T intersection off a 55mph highway, not a full stop, but I’m definitely going down to 25 or so to make that turn. On top of that, why speed up to ride someone’s arse when you see they are slowing down and signaling to turn

He was making a right turn, not “exiting”. If only you angry drivers were half as defensive on the road as you are on a message board, we might not be having this conversation right now lol

You could pull off on the shoulder. There are ways to make your turn and still be courteous.
One group of people especially likes to come to a complete stop before turning off the highway. They annoy me.

Try driving with a little purpose instead of creeping up on a right hand turn like you're going to scare it away.

You aren't hitting the apex, clearly. Kidding.

Only people that learned to drive in the country with 2 lane 60MPH roads are smart enough to do that.

I like that half the responses are dudes bristling at the notion

Or FFS Bubba could've courteously hit the brakes for 3 seconds while another driver clearly signaled.
