It's basically a Facebook for your neighborhood and all they do is bitch about the HOA.

Our neighborhood uses it to bitch about irresponsible pet owners, post lost pets, report every pedestrian or slow-driving vehicle as a suspicious stranger, and advertise the latest housewife pyramid scheme product.

It was useful during the flood and a week or two after, though.

I got Bama tix off it for some friends. It basically is a Craigslist but with Facebook account vetting.

Also a neighborhood info sharing app I was told.

mine had about 100 post discussion on what to do about coyotes eating small pets .

Mine had a discussion started by a lady that wanted to rehabilitate a blind opossum. A fricking blind opossum! I offered to humanely kill it and was labeled as a psychopath.

Kinda started to involve into a public works project, they wanted to hire a trapper to access the problem, then people wanted the homeowners assoc to pay him, then people said they didn't want their dues to go to this because of the potential harm to the coyotes others wanted assurances that their pets wouldn't be harmed in the traps and on and and on

This all just reiterates to me that I want to get out of a neighborhood.

What has our country become, if all we do is bitch about our own neighbors? I know folks have always bitched about neighbors, but not to go to the trouble to let everyone else know.

Geez.

My neighborhood has one. I don't see the point so I didn't join. But yeah, it's facebook for your neighborhood to post about yard sales and shite.

I use next door.. It's usually old people complaining about people speeding in the neighborhood. Otherwise, mostly lost or found pets, yard sales, and once in a while useful information like local volunteer events, where to vote, when a crime happened nearby, etc. There's also a phone tree that I have not signed up for.

It's good for finding out when people are having yard sales, who is giving away produce from their gardens, when community events are being held, getting recommendations for handymen, tracking lost pets, and to track crime in the neighborhood. However, there's also lots of irrelevent whining.

I'm a member, Lead and Founder of my neighborhood group. There are more positives than negatives for sure. Good way to share info and find out things about the neighborhood. Not many nitpicking things at all. Our mayor and councilmen are on there and are active so you can get someone's ear quickly.

Good money can be made from this site:

Your neighbors will undoubtedly post "Lost Dog" or "Missing Cat" notices...

You can then inquire what the reward is and they typically pay well to get their pets back.

If you get creative you can beat them to the punch by "rescuing" any pets left alone in the back yard, etc.

Instead of waiting on them to send a notice post a picture of the pet and say "Dog Found - Reward Wanted"...

You will be surprised what people will pay for their dogs back, especially if it is a pure breed, like a lab or something.

It's not a bad thing to have, just be sure to adjust your settings on notifications.

I got like 20 notification emails the first day. Now I get an email every other day or something.
