I just get a daily summary email with a list of topics posted. Easy to delete if not interested.
There was an interesting thread on ours about a plumber who does shitty work. About 20 people posted horror stories about them. That info was worth having it.
Lot of people post requests/recommendations for handymen, painters, yard men, etc.

It was pretty pointless when I lived in the CBD but every so often you could get some good comedy.
Also you could hear about crimes you didn't see on the news. A lot of property crime,

We have this in LAWO and works pretty well - accept for the sighting of coyotes as large as a german sheppard and 7ft gators in the lower lake.

Some of our neighbors have been using it - some had some vandalism to Christmas decorations. I think it's fb for neighbors- idk.
Per wiki -
Nextdoor competes with other social networks such as Yelp, Yahoo Groups, Facebook and Google. It claims to be better than Facebook as membership is by invitation only, so "you don’t have to deal with strangers trying to add you as a friend".[3][4] An article in The Washington Post said when Nextdoor launched that it "seems poised to ride the wave of people’s desire to connect back to their community".[5]

Damn. I joined a couple weeks ago, and it's 100% lost cats & people looking for housekeepers. Boring arse neighborhood.

If you can keep in mind that the people that post on Nextdoor aren't going to be the smartest bunch of your neighbors, then detach and laugh at them, Nextdoor is great every now and again.
Coyotes are always fun. Cars parked on the street are apparently a huge inconvenience and decrease property values.
My neighbors had an awesome discussion about whether or not one should walk on the sidewalk or the street. I thought I lived in a nice and safe neighborhood, but apparently not. The sidewalks are a treacherous hellscape full of booby traps and trip hazards. The streets are a cross between Talladega and Mad Max. No place is safe. Stay inside.

There should be a rule, can't start a topic unless you searched first. People looking for recommendations for housekeepers, lawn service, contractors, painters, electricians, etc.
It is funny sometimes how a topic can get blow all out of proportion.

You should be more concerned if you haven't been invited to join nextdoor. That means your house is the house the neighbors are gossiping about.

I do. Serious question, did the speed bumps affect the sale of your house in anyway.

"Any legit nude maid services?"
"I need a lawn guy to trim my bush if you know what I mean"
"Can I sue a contractor for defecating on my lawn (with pictures of dog poop)?"
"Would it be okay if I got a small mural of my daughter painted on my garage door?"
"My handheld massager keeps tripping my breaker"
These are the reasons my neighbors won't let me on
