What has Chicago produced in terms of original culture, business, or entertainment?

New York City has broadway, Wall Street, Ellis Island, Harlem Jazz, and a plethora of cuisines that got their start in the Big Apple.

New Orleans has jazz, Mardi Gras, creole food (with Cajun right next door) and a long history of culture.

LA has Hollywood.

San Francisco has the tech sector.

Nashville is the Mecca of country music.

Outside of being large and on a lake, what original impact has Chicago made on America?

Wasn't Second City responsible for a lot of Saturday Night Live greatness?

Friend,

Not a lot.

Maybe John Hughes' movies of the 80s and 90s?

Chicago food is an afterthought.
