Amongst a thousand other things, Chicago has produced:
- The first acknowledged skyscraper in the world and some of the greatest architects and architectural masterpieces in the history of man;
- Two of the best universities in the world, including the one which was birthplace to economic scholarship that his impacted everything from private entrepreneurship to government policy to the law;
- One of the most renowned art museums in the western world, the Art Institute;

- Famous authors, including but certainly not limited to Theodore Drieser, Carl Sandburg, and Richard Wright;
- Two of the most pivotal commodities and derivatives exchanges in the history of the United States;
- A sketch comedy club that was the proving ground and template for the best players of the best years of SNL (Second City)
- One of the most renowned playhouses in the country, Steppenwolf;
- The Republican national convention where Abraham Lincoln was nominated (he also practiced occasionally in the city);
This is off the top of my head. I could literally keep writing for another hour or more. And that is if I totally disregard the city's central role in America's westward expansion, industrialization, economic development, and cultural development. There have been whole books written on that subject, including Miller's City of the Century.

My suggestion...get out of your trailer park and see the world. Like most large cities, Chicago has its crime issues and bad areas, but by and large, Chicago is a great city. And that hurts me to say.
