Hang out in large groups where she can avoid or ignore her. At least it’s a friend’s wife and not close family. Does your friend’s wife’s appearance threaten your wife?

I mean this sounds like I get a few hours unbothered to me and a fresh manicure.
He gets a few hours of no nagging or whatever men call females just talking.

Only way to handle those situations. Makes me wonder what’s wrong with his best friend to marry a self absorbed, vapid dull woman but whatever.

First, find out why. And not some half butt explanation.
I then talk to my boy about it straight up at lunch one day.
I didn’t marry a woman that was petty enough to hate anyone so what do I know.

My wife is the friendliest person I’ve ever met, if anything there’s some of her friends I hate. There’s less than 5 people she has ever actually greatly disliked and all of them she basically dead or at least flat out never wanted to see again, and I don’t really blame her. But as a couple, if it’s just because they are a complete douche but not flat out a terrible person, a-hole, etc then I’ll still hang out if my wife wants to.
Part of being a couple is supporting the other person.
You also need to ask yourself why your wife hates her

When you both like the husband and the wife really finds the other wife (among other things) loud, trashy, bossy.
Odds are the nice husband will die of a heart attack and the wife becomes more unbearable. You keep up appearances until neither can stand her.

Why not?

Tell ur ole lady to get over it and that u are going with or without her. And if she does come she might get a new purse out the deal! Or even heaven forbid she might have a good time.

I would drag my wife out with us and dare her to frick it up. I do shite with my wife that I don't want to do all of the time, so she's gonna acquiese, and have a good time and keep her mouth shut. Then as a reward, when we get home, I'm gonna bend her over and give her the best 24 seconds she's ever had.

Been there, my best friend's wife is insufferable alcoholic and addicted to gambling. After the first drink she is loud and obnoxious. My wife hates to socialize with them, but suffers through it.
My friend and I have been though a lot together, we are tight and know the other will always be there for each other.

We’d go out to dinner or have a bbq and she’d always talk about how terrible the other wives were. When I didn’t play along, she’d make fun of my clothes, or take jabs at my weight. So, I didn’t say anything, just smile. She ran off other husbands and wives of the friend group and loved to start drama. She was a mess.

Bossy, won’t shut up, thinks the world revolves around her, her problems are always worse than yours, etc.
If that's the case, let your wife call her out on it and see if she changes her tune. If it gets ugly, nothing lost since your wife doesn't like being around her anyway.
At least that way your friend's wife will know where she stands with your wife.

It's not about your friend's wife. Your wife is trying to separate YOU from YOUR friend; she's just using the wife as a manipulation tool.
