I am old enough to remember when JFK was killed, staying home from school and watching all the stuff on TV

Steve Irwin is the only celebrity I ever shed a tear for.

Robin Williams and Michael Jackson. Look through all the posts and these are 2 people that will be icons in their fields many many years from now. Although I feel for the events of today, Kobe is just another sports personality that died too young

Chester Bennington, Linkin Park was the first band I really got into and remains my favorite band of all time. The fact that I never got the chance to see then live made it hurt so much more.
Paul Walker, grew up loving the Fast and Furious movies as a kid and heard nothing but good things about Paul as a person.
Robin Williams, like Paul I loved his movies growing up and was completely taken back when he died. Although I'd say Paul hit harder.
Steve Irwin, dude was The Crocodile Hunter ask any millenial where they were the day he died and they'll tell you exactly.
Kobe, I mean this is obvious dude was at his peak when I was in middle school so yeah I idolized the man.

Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher)seriously impacted me. I'm usually not one to give much thought about things as such. However, growing up with her, and it being sort of a shock, it was the only time I felt the loss of someone I've never met. She'll always be a princess to me.

Normally celebrities don't have an impact on me. Except for Kobe. He was the one that really hit me hard to the point of tears.

Seriously however, though not a huge celebrity, because he was my college advisor, mentor, and something of a friend, Stephen Ambrose's death left a mark.

You a junkie too? Would explain some things, for sure.

Not a traditional “celebrity” but I was pretty bummed out when I heard that Tyler Trent (Purdue Student) had passed last year. I had gotten to know his story through ESPN and admired his courage and positive attitude while going through a horrific physically painful ordeal.
With today’s news, I am exponentially more impacted about Gianna.
In my point of view, there is nothing more tragic in this life than the death of a child.

Kobe is a top 10 player of all time and a global icon. I'm far from a Kobe fanboy but you're simply off on this.

Kobe is the worst because it was sudden, he was healthy, he was young, he was still pretty relevant, and most of all his daughter and 3 other children died with him

Dale Earnhardt. He was still near the top of his game late in his career. He died on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 which has (had) a huge TV following . When I was growing up he seemed larger than life and almost had those Superman like qualities. As sad as his death was back then , it likely prevented many drivers from meeting the same fate due to wholesale changes in safety both to the cars and the tracks. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years since that happened.

Len Bias.
I was 25 at the time. Was still playing Basketball in a League.
The Celtics drafted him,I believe #2,on Larry Bird's directive.Bird had been working out with Bias and knew that he was the missing piece that would put them on another level.
Celtics draft Len Bias.
A few days later Bias dies from a Cocaine Overdose.
What a waste.
Bird,McHale,Parrish,Bias, and a Point Guard would have dominated.

Impact? None. End of the day they never did anything for my family, so why should I really care? I see people say theyre losing sleep and cant eat over this? Really? Just seems crazy to me.
