Payne Stewart; #1 I was a PS fan and #2 I was working in Kosovo and then Africa at the time and flying around on planes that don't get the maintenance like they should whereas the Lear Jet Payne was on should've gotten top of the line maintenance.

Yes I know 1 of the determining factors in the crash was the checklist for when shite goes bad like loss of cabin pressure.

Steve Irwin

That still upsets me to this day. Dude was and is still one of my heroes.

Elton John will be in that number.

What? Not even close.

The fact that entertainers deaths cause such an uproar in the country shows just how screwed up our values have become. No entertainer has affected my personal or professional life, nor with their death.

Bourdain

This and mostly because I got into Anthony’s material within the last three years or so. He was one of the last old guard journalists (he wasn’t in the technical sense but yea, he kind of was) in that he took the time to really understand the people and places he visited.

He was a master with words too. Storyteller at heart. No in really left that can do what he did with Parts Unknown.

And Robin Williams. Grew up with Miss Doubtfire and Hook on repeat. He was definitely a huge part of growing up in the 90z.

Elvis. I was like 4 or 5 years old and still remember my mom came running out the house crying her eyes out that Elvis just died. Myself and my twin brother starting crying too

Kobe's death has had an impact on me because we were the same age. It was amazing to watch a dude graduate from HS at the same time as me and go on to become the first "Legend" of our generation

Oddly, Princess Diana. I always admired her for thumbing her nose at those puckered-up royals. Not to mention her charity work. I thought she was classy, although she went a little wild there for a bit.

None. I can’t get upset when someone I’ve never met passes. I understand that it’s a sad situation but I’ve never lost sleep over a celebrity’s death.

Steve Irwin
Aaliyah
Kobe Bryant

It’s not that people are being stargazed or worshipping celebrities because they are hurt when they pass it’s like something you enjoy doing dies in my eyes. Honestly, since Steve Irwin died name an exciting animal documentary that has come out since.

There is a hard line of demarcation in this thread between people that are over 45 and people that are younger than 45.

People under 45 grew up with the cult of celebrity, when a celebrity dies, they take it like a family member.

People over 45 are incredulous at this, they couldnt give a shite about a celebrity.

I don’t know any of these people and whatever they were famous for doesn’t matter to me.

The only one I can think of they really bummed me out was Jerry Garcia but even that wasn’t all that unexpected.

I never thought that any celebrity death would have an impact on me but Neal Peart's recent death really tickled my empathy meter. Neal Peart was such a genius and had a great positive impact on rock music.

Dolores O'Riordan. The Cranberries were a massive part of my early teenage years. She could still sing very well, and the band was on the way back when she died.
