What are you passing down to your children that was passed down to you?

I got four dead grandparents and not a penny or object from any of them.

I have no idea who has their wedding rings, their guns, the title of their homes, cars, clothes, art, rugs, or anything…just some pictures.

To think that every one of us has had thousands of ancestors that lived lives and accumulated some sort of wealth or even meager possessions how is it that individually we’re passed down so little or in most cases nothing at all?

All you self-made OT ballers, y’all get anything significant?

I don’t care what you claim you’ll pass down to your kids ….I am asking what was passed down to you that you will pass down to your children?

Blue eyes.

And guns.

And a healthy skepticism of authority.

No kind of heirlooms in my family. No precious objects from one generation to the next. Mostly traditions. Rice dressing on Thanksgiving. How to run a boat and fish the marsh.

A small amount of land (10ish acres) that my grandfather farmed for fun. He let the community get what they wanted, they just had to pick it. My dad has it now, it will be mine. I’ll never sell, and I’ll make sure my son won’t either.

I don’t have kids & at this point in my life I won’t
The only reason I regret not having them is because I won’t have kids of my own to pass down family heirlooms to
I have pots of my great grandmothers, my grandfathers wedding band & my grandmothers promise ring, not including the stuff from my moms side of the family
