Let me try to explain it another way.

Jon comes down with the flu. Jon has a compromised immune system that can't adequately fight it. Jon goes to the hospital, gets admitted and immediately starts receiving treatment. After 3 days, he succumbs to the illness.

Nancy contracts Corona virus. Nancy also has a compromised immune system, and goes to teh hospital for treatment. She arrives at the hospital to find no available beds because hundreds of other people have Corona virus. Nancy succumbs to the illness because the hospital is unable to provide her adequate treatment because they are overwhelmed.

Do you see the difference here?

It's amazing some of y'all let yourselves get played by the media like this. At this point next month the same people saying, "You serious, Clark?" will be criticizing the media for overreacting.

Fwiw I agree with OP. Most of you guys that don’t give a shite right now about closings are likely w-2 employees. I own a business and this is likely to mean a considerable loss on the year to me. I’m holding off hiring someone I needed 2 weeks ago due to my worry about work drying up for a bit. This is going to cause some major economic issues in Q2 and Q3. I’m not a doomsdayer and life will move on. But companies are going to run out money and people layed off starting in a couple of weeks, you can bet on it.

Do I think the hardship is worth it? I honestly have no clue. Probably yes.

It’s basically a question of should they hospitals be overwhelmed or should people lose jobs? This is a major reaction and is going to cause major issues. You can’t have this much reaction without things changing down the line.
