It's the people, hands down! Great people who are generous and always welcoming!

Nature trails in Minnesota might be better, do they have red ants and mosquitos? If so, that's a wash.

The ground is frozen half the time, bland arse food, and there's less daylight for too long during the year.

I never see people mention this, but for non-educated people you can make a hell of a nice living here.

I wish everyone on this board who hates LA would just leave. My God the constant self loathing must be exhausting.

My guess is the people who complain and won’t leave simply can’t afford to. In which case there’s probably not a whole lot of places you’re going to be happy.

I used to think that when I lived there.

Now when I go back to visit, I’m amazed at the obesity and trash that seems to have replaced the hotties.

Depends on how you determine quality of life. I know a lot of folks in La who love their lives.

I know exactly what you mean.

being polite and avoiding conflict are basically the pillars of midwestern culture and that's how a lot of people go about doing so.

We are also more tolerant of each other down here, both racially and religiously, and I think that Louisianians are really funny, and have an unique outlook on life.
This.

Go Uptown in NOLA to learn about this.

Folks from every strata of society shop at the same Fresh Market on St Charles.

Ride a St Charles line streetcar. Folks get along.

That doesn’t happen in most any other state.
