Tech consultants, a lot of the higher paying gigs require travel though.

No lol.

You just HEAR about the ones pulling in that much. There’s plenty of outside sales guys busting their arse and barely pulling in 60 a year.

Every sales HR recruiter, ever: “Our guys are making 200k, and some of them are making double that”

What they mean is: A couple of our top producers, who are being fed our best leads because they have the most seniority, are making that. The owner feeds them slam dunks with from his best friends directly, so all they have to do is take the terms in and get the papers signed. We have 30 outside salesmen, and the 2 guys who have been here 20 years and got in on the ground floor are making 200k. Sales is a shitty shitty way to live.

Sales is a volume game. A few senior top dogs are making bank. But companies have far more sales guys scrambling for table scraps than they have eating at 5 star steakhouses every night. Most sales people won’t make shite in their careers

Finance...as in investment banking.

Sure you could go to medical school or law school and be in school forever with a ton of debt, but, an MBA from a top flight business school will have you crack $200k/yr within 3 yrs.

TDcline, I have mad respect for your story. I'm even considering armed services to help pay for medical school or to be a medic in the armed services.

Wife's best friend does IT security sales. She's pissed if she dosen't bank $350k a year. Also wins trips to all types of nice places...Bora Bora, Italy, France, etc. In order to bank this type of money you must be willing to work your arse off. Expect a very high stress level, too.

I have a cousin who went to Tulane for law school. Racked up a shitload of student loan debt. Just an ungodly amount.

Prior to 2012, the military was offering student loan repayment as an incentive and he could have gotten some great experience practicing as a JAG attorney. Anyway, he pussed out. Still isn’t practicing as an attorney and still has a shitload of student loan debt.

If you’re seriously considering it, go officer. Don’t go back and forth on it because you’ll be too old one day. If you really want to do it, jump in. It’s an excellent career.

Eh, I know a couple of teachers in Chicago shonstarted oyt at 65k. It’s also extremely competitive and hard to get.

They make more than I do for a significantly less stressful job.

Why didn’t I become a teacher

Whatever you think a person probably makes, it is usually considerably less, most of the that look like they make a lot of money don't, the person you think is least likely to have considerable wealth can have a lot.

This is one of life's great truths. I knew an old guy that owned a dirt moving business; excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers, etc. 80 years old with a tick, tick Cajun accent, mesh trucker hat, overalls, pearl button shirt, and boots. The whole costume.

The dude was worth 8 figures. He'd buy new equipment for his business and stroke a $250,000 check like it was nothing. Of course, he was worth that much because he worked every single day and lived like he made $50k a year, not like he was worth $10M.
