Twin Falls, Idaho would be a decent place to retire if you like quiet but still having amenities and lower crime.

Flagstaff is still great as a summer break from Vegas temps but the word got out about it and as others have mentioned, it's taken a lot of the luster out of that area. Plus, if you're not into snow...they get pummeled pretty good in winter.

You already know about Vegas, so not much to add there. The summers aren't horrible unless it's windy (which is fairly often.) Then, it feels like someone's blowing a hair dryer into your face. The "other" Las Vegas, in New Mexico isn't shabby and is close to Santa Fe.

Park City, Utah

-20-30 min from SLC International and downtown Salt Lake City for any of those needs.
-far enough away to be in the mountains surrounded by fun shite to do (ski, hike, fish, bike, hunt, golf, drink and stare at the sunset...)
-The town is an actual town, with a main strip and various happenings, not just a resort town.
-food is great
-nightlife is great
-weather is great (even in winter, the temp is very mild and the snow is light and fluffy)
-solid base of locals/residents with a constant change of scenery from visitors
-visitors need money to visit there, so you won't be getting influxes of trash

ETA: reasonible drive to Denver, Yellowstone/Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Boise, Vegas...

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. If you can stand the cold...it is beautiful in the Summer.

When I was there, it was like a different world in the Summer. Low humidity and beautiful.

If you want a bigger city...Spokane, Washington is just a piece down the road.

Probably true... Kansas City?

Not in the summer, yesterday their dew point was 72 degrees. Summers there are pretty sticky. You really need to focus on the western US. And look at dew point, not % humidity. Percent humidity is mostly meaningless.

New Orleans, BR, and Shreveport are fairly similar.

I don’t know about actual humidity levels, but Shreveport doesn’t feel CLOSE to as humid as those other two.

A hot, wet summer day in New Orleans feels like the Everglades.

San Angelo , Texas. Average annual rainfall: 18 inches.

Humidities can fall as low as 8 % during summer when a Dry Line pushes eastward over the Concho valley and Edwards plateau.

Elevation : 1,975 feet. Less Gulf Moisture hence less humid year round.
